19 cars, chilly temps

New to Petaluma the #20 of Nicole Miller

Track was dry from the get go with only the #27 of Brett Rollag getting into the 12 second bracket with a 12.92 time as 1st car out. Rollag was followed the #56 of Shawn Arriaga, the #20 of Miller, #19 of Art McCarthy, and rounding out the top 5 qualifiers the #2b of Jeremy Burt. Top 5 qualifiers came from the 1st 7 cars out.

Heat 1 7 cars, 8 laps - finish, car#, name (started)

1. #3x, Alissa Geving (3) 2. #27, Rollag(4) 3. #7h, Jake Haulot (2) 4. #3, Adrien Betournay (7) 5. #51, John Kirby, Jr. (6) 6. #9n, Nick Ringo (1) 7. #19, McCarthy (5) - 1st start called back as Ringo gets on the throttle too early. 2nd start sees Ringo take the lead thru 1 and 2 with Geving in pursuit. Geving takes the lead with a low move on the bottom of turn 4. Ringo comes to a stop at the flagstand and re-fires and tags the back. Restart lap 1- 3x,19,27,7h,3,51,9n - Geving blasts to the lead and not much changes up front. The #51 does a 360 in turn 4 and loses a couple of spots. The #19 of McCarthy spins in 4 as Geving takes the white flag. Flagman throws the checkers.

Heat 2 6 cars, 8 laps - finish, car #, name (started)

Arriaga grabs the runner up spot with a low move in turn 4. Arriaga now all over the #63. Lap 3 and Forland spins in 4 to bring out the yellow. Worden gives up the lead on the yellow as officials discover he has no radio. Restart - 56,6c,5v,2b,10 - Arriaga assumes command again and there are no changes the final 6 laps to the finish as the dry track has everyone careful.

Heat 3 6 cars, 8 laps - finish, car #, name (started)

1. #10x, Roberto Kirby (1) 2. #19x, Brandon Davis (3) 3. #35jr, Rickey Wright, Jr. 4. #20, Miller (6) 5. #84, Klint Simpson (4) 6. #10c, Keith Collins (2) - Kirby takes the non stop affair. 1. #5v, Terrell (8) 2. #56, Arriaga (5) 3. #3x, Geving (9) 4. #19x, Davis(11) 5. #10x, Kirby (10) 6. #84, Simpson (6) 7. #7h, Haulot (1) 8. #63, Worden (16) 9. #51, Kirby, Jr (17) 10. #9n, Ringo (13) 11. #35, Wright, Jr. (2) 12. #3, Betournay (15) 13. #10c, Collins (14) 14. #10, Forsland (18) 15. #6c, Parady (7-DNF) 16. #2b, Burt (3-DNF) 17. #27, Rollag (19) 18. #19, McCarthy (12-DNF) 19. #20, Miller (4-DNF) - wild, caution plagued event as 1and 2 had 2 distinct lines while everyone hugged the bottom of 3 and 4 and tried to follow each other. Rollag stopped at the flag-stand during warm ups and had to tag the rear. Wright, Jr takes the initial lead, but as the pack tried to get thru 3 and 4 on lap 2 Simpson bangs off someone and stops on the front-stretch. Restart lap 1 - 35jr,7h,2b,20,6c,5v,10x,56,19x,3x,19,27 (up from last),9n,3,10,10c,63,51,84 - Wright, Jr moves out to the lead running 1 and 2 high with the Haulot and Burt in pursuit. Track is throwing up all kinds of dust. Lap 5 and Miller spins in turn 4 to bring out the yellow and gives up 4th spot. Restart lap 4 -35jr,2b,7h,5v,10x,56,3x,19x,27,6c,19,3,9n,63,10,10c,51,84,20 - Terrel grabs 3 from Haulot with a slingshot move in the high line thru 1 and 2. Arriaga grabs 4th with a low move in 4 - Haulot now running 5th. Rollag spins in 4 on lap 6 for another yellow while running 9th (from 18th). He goes off and ends his charge to the front. Restart 35jr,2b,5v,7h,10x,3x,19x,6c,19,3,9n,10c,10,63,84,51 - Burt grabs the lead from Wright, Jr with a low move in 3 only to have the pass negated as McCarthy spins into the pit exit lane and stops. He would be done - restart is the same minus McCarthy - Burt tries to go low under Wright, Jr and almost makes it work. Wright, Jr. fight backs and Burt does a 360 spin at the exit of 2, saves it somehow and falls back to 5th. Lap 9 and Burt comes to a stop in turn 3 ended his night and another yellow. Restart - 35jr,5v,56,3x,10x,7h,6c,19x,9n,3,10,84,63,10c,51 - Wright, Jr and Terrel battle for the lead thru 1 and 2 on repeated laps with Wright prevailing each time running high. Lap 13 and Parady and Davis get together coming out of 4 and down the front chute - Parady spins to a stop as Davis continues - Forsland stops at thee top of 4- yellow again. Parady would be done for the night. Restart -35jr,5v,56,3x,10x,19x,7h,9n,3,84,63,10c,51,10 - Wright to the lead and begins to stretch it out to 10 cars as Terrel and Arriaga fight for 2nd. Davis grabs 5th on lap16. Lap 18 and Wright, Jr bounces high between 1 and 2 spins and then stops to bring out the yellow. He is re-fired and tags the rear for the restart Restart lap 17 -5v,56,3x,19b,10x, 84(has moved up nicely),7h,9n,63,3,51,10,10c,35jr - Terrel and Arriaga side by side with Arriaga high in 1 and 2 and Terrel low. This goes on for several laps with Arriaga almost getting by each time. Terrel gets the message and moves up high on lap 22 and would holds off a determined Arriaga to the checkers.

Hard Charger - none awarded as there were too many cautions and cars tagging the rear giving up spots. Both Worden and Kirby, Jr. gained 8 spots in the final rundown and Terrel 7. Wright, Jr. had to be disappointed as was leading comfortably before stopping in turn 2 on lap 18. Burt continues to be very fast at Petaluma and seems poised to break through with a win along with Wright, Jr.

Next race - Saturday night - 5/16/9 - 360 winged cars and wingless sprints
