Season rapidly approaching

By Gary Thomas

February 19, 2007... The 2007 U.S. racing season for Jonathan Allard and Williams Motorsports is coming up quickly with this weekend's World of Outlaws two day show in Tulare being the first event on tap. The crew has been hard at work putting the new cars together in time for this weekend's action at the Thunderbowl and Jonathan is eager to hit the track.

Last year Jonathan led the Thunderbowl Raceway point standings for much of the season before finishing third in the final rundown when the checkered flag flew in October. Along the way he picked up one win at the racy 1/3 mile clay oval, passing and holding off local driver "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr. in one of the most exciting Golden State Challenge Series races of the '06 season. JA also set fast time on three separate occasions and won five heat races at the Central Valley speed plant.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Series event in Tulare this weekend should prove to be one of the most challenging events JA and Williams Motorsports will run in this season, except for the Knoxville Nationals. Nearly 30 traveling teams will be in the pits at the Thunderbowl this weekend, including all the big names that ran with the National Sprint Tour last season. For more info on the race log onto www.thunderbowlraceway.com

The World of Outlaws haven't raced at the Thunderbowl since a two day event in October of 2005 and that weekend saw Jonathan score a pair of strong top five finishes. With a little luck on his side, JA will certainly be a contender this weekend in Tulare.

Jonathan is coming off of a season that saw him win his first career Golden State Challenge Series championship and his second consecutive Dirt Cup at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington. Overall Jonathan and Williams Motorsports won 11 races, which also marked the second year in a row that JA reached double digit wins.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors who have committed for the '07 season and there's more to come as the weeks go on. Thank you to all these companies and we look forward to having another great year:

Williams Motorsports, K&N Air Filters, Red Line Oil, GT Trends, CJR, Bell Helmets, Butler Built Products, J&J Auto Racing, Hoosier Tire West, Platinum Powder Coating, Sharp Insurance, FK Rod Ends, Fragola Performance Systems, Flowmaster, Auto Meter, ISC Racers Tape, NGK Spark Plugs, Long Acre Products, Racing Optics, FSR Radiator, Vmac Racing, Weld Racing Wheels, BR Ignitioneering, Weld Racing Wheels, Pro Socks, Winters performance Products, Red Devil Brakes, Ringers Gloves, Performance Tools, Ringers Gloves, Kistler Racing Engines, JPs Paint & Body Works, BR Motorsports, Spy Optics, Graph X Designs

The Golden State Challenge Series season starts in less than three weeks with the annual Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Jonathan will begin his title defense looking for his first career Mini Gold Cup victory, which pays six grand to win. Last season JA became the first Chico driver to ever win the GSC championship and in three weeks he'll look to become the first Chico driver to ever win the Mini Gold Cup.

I agree that this will be one of the toughest races of the year for our CA drivers because there will be so many traveling WoO drivers to contend with. I think there will be around 60 or more cars at Tulare this weekend. I would imagine that most of the CA 410 drivers will be there since it is the first winged sprint car race of the year. It's going to be lots of fun seeing all the greatest sprint car racers driving together. I am really looking forward it!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!
