How about that Cole Trickle move by Blaney, He may have not been mad @ anybody but he should have slowed down some & saved himself & Schrader some grief.

Dave didn't do anything wrong. Haulin' down pit road to avoid an accident is common and within the rules in NASCAR. The problem was the fact that he couldn't turn the car due to a flat tire and couldn't stay on the bottom after leaving the pits.

You're not gonna be able to stay on the bottom when youare going 150 plus mph coming out of the pits! I like Dave very much, but I believe he screwed up and made a mistake.JMO

Stewart and Busch taking each other out leading had to be the WTF of the day however... Couldn't believe how calm Stewart was when they interviewed him. He is either on some darn good medication or he already blamed himself.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

We have seen that move, diving onto pit lane, to avoid an accident many times. When it works it's a hero move. When there's a flat right front and the driver doesn't know it the move drops down to a zero bonehead move real quick. Dave ran second on Saturday, kept up with the lead pack most of the day despite an ill handling (tight then loose) was in line for a top 20 before being forced off the track. If he would have known he had a flat and wasn't going to be able to turn it he'd have handled it differently. From what I read he's upset with himself but quite a few drivers were kicking themselves after yesterday's race. The field didn't look very professional yesterday, it was just one of those kinds of days.
On to California and hopefully a better week for the 22 team.

So you could tell if you had a flat tire (one with an inner liner) shrek?? It isn't the same as when your tire goes flat on your station wagon.

I thought he could've slowed down a bit more, but I didn't know this.......from Jayski:
So..what happened to Blaney? #22-Dave Blaney and the team ran into misfortune on lap 185 of the 200-lap Daytona 500, as Blaney drive down pit road to avoid an accident on the frontstretch. With a flat right-front tire, he was unable to avoid making contact with several cars as he exited pit road. After making a lap around the track, he headed back to pit road for four fresh tires and to give the Caterpillar team the opportunity to review any damage the contact may have made. Unfortunately, NASCAR officials were none too pleased with the speed the Caterpillar Toyota reached on pit lane while trying to avoid the accident, and after first assessing the team a five lap penalty, they then decided to send the #22 to the garage for the remainder of the race. Blaney was credited with a 34th-place finish.

I have heard them say many times that is feels like a tire went down and they get back to the pits and the tire is solid. Have seen it on tv both ways actually. I don't have any experience with it so I admit that I really don't know. But I can't believe that someone would risk their life or someone else's in that situation.

I guess if you know a lot about the NAPCAR tires, it suprizes me that you are only involved with sprint cars rather thn where the money is!

i guess the real question does anyone really care what happens in a 200 mph parade napcar is the biggest joke in racing there is you work all day to put some one a lap down and then the clowns give it back to you because you are the first one a lap down bull @#$t and then the top 35 in points are locked in why even qualify so you can get a different pit stall whoopee and then 10 races from the end you quit racing and start all over again this is racing not football, basketball or baseball and you cant even say the word shit in an interview without it costing you $25,000.00 they have even ruined drag racing now with that stupid chase crap i just hope sprint cars dont go to that stupid napcar crap and they keep it real racing JMO

The drivers and their families come ot mind. Blaney won $90,000 for his second place finish in the Busch race on Saturday and probably a good chunk of change for 34th in the Cup race yesterday. He came from the winged Sprints so it's good to see him do well in the upper levels of the sport.
Only a fool would pass up a chance to advance to a series where they can make more for one second place finish than the payoff for just about any Sprint Car race. I love Sprint Car racing but if I was a driver and had the chance to set my family up for life vs running up and down the highway into my 50's I'd go to Nascar. I might be able to convince the wife that Sprint Car racing was real racing and Nascar wasn't but I'd never come up with a good reason to pass on that kind of living.
If you like the winged Sprints Dave Blaney is our best representative in Nascar. I think he's a h*lluva nice guy and he's going to have a good season despite the miscue.

Stan is exactly right here. If you add in the $269,000+ in winnings from the Nextel race, Blaney's Speedweeks total is almost $360,000. Even the driver's share of that isn't too shabby.
There's a whole lot more good about NASCAR than there is bad. And a whole bunch of the "good" developed at the NASCAR level has come back to help the local dirt racer through safety, technology and motorsport's exposure in general.
Personally, I haven't found a form of motorsports that I don't enjoy.

well saed Stan--------nodust---- unfortunately at this time in my life i am unable to take place in anything that involves travel i was born with a kidney disease and in June of 05 my kidneys failed and i have been hooked to a dialysis machine 4 days a week every since. it really sucks for me when race time comes around just scheduling local races is a bitch but its something i have to deal with------hoping for a transplant soon i am only 48 so i still have lots of play time left thankfully i live in a hotbed for racing (norcal) so its not to bad------------ps-i am on full disability so hoseheads helps to keep me somewhat sane and i have plenty of time to read every post lol------------pss--real race cars don't have doors finders or even billboards lol------no really i love all forms of auto racing i just love non-wing a little more it has to do with going to the track long before that old hood was turned upside down and welded to the cage lol

Hey nodust, they did a snip snip of a polyp during my last "save your butt" exam three years ago. I went today for my scheduled follow up and it was clean, I'm off the hook for ten years. If a chicken sh*t like me can go through that simple bit of preventive medicine anybody can. I remember you saying what you've been through and appreciate you getting this message out in your post like you do. You never know how many racefans *sses you're going to save by saying that.
