Now why would they want to do that? They’re sure the rules infraction was PURELY UNINTENTIONAL.......My A**. Wonder Boy, NAPCAR’s favorite son.

NAAAA he's NASCARs 2nd SON, nobody beats JR in that department anymore. Thought NASCAR was going to clean up the cheating, guess you can still keep the WIN if you cheat. Amazing statement from NASCAR "they didn't want to cheat somebody just

made a 1" mistake so will just pat the team on the A$$ alittle.

It seems to me that Nascar is pretty arbitrary in the rules they enforce. One of many reasons why I am not a fan.

One inch is a huge amount! (how is a car off that much by accident??) Seems Jeff got off easy compared to the penalties doled out to Kasey over a piece of tape. If you have a good car, starting at the back is not that huge of a deal. Losing season points and a crew chief are a much bigger deal and harder to recover from. I like the stricter enforcement, but I question the equity between these penalties.

Only thing i wonder is what nascar will do if a car is involved in a wreck during race and is to low. I just dont understand if he was not cheating as they say how they can penalize him.

Jeff Burton actually looked at the car and the piece in question, and he came away satisfied that what happened was a pure mechanical failure and that the "punishment" was adequate. Considering the deep and abiding love that he has for Jeff Gordon, and the fact that he admitted going over there to prove Gordon was getting away with something, I think that carries a bit more weight than someone's opinion from across the country. Of course, I'm probably wrong.

The only reason Burton wanted to see it is because he is just as big of a whiney a** as Gordon or anyone else for that matter.

The only thing you're wrong about is trying to talk common sense about Gorden.

You don't set up a car a inch low when you know it will go to inspection.

I was so disappointed when Jeff left open wheels, that kid had "IT" no doubt, no question about it. I remember that 19 year old kid putting it to mad dog Vogel at Winchester. He drove that track right on the edge and was beating the "yardstick" Vogel consistently that year. I loved Richie and still think of him often but Jeff was just that good......Come on,I'm ready.

How's this? I wish Robby Gorden had been driving a non-wing sprint instead of off road stuff, because Robby has "IT" too...so did one other Robby..Stanley

P.S. Hawker..you might as well bend over because you left yourself wide open.

It's too bad Jeff won't come back to his open wheel roots. Even if he had a Silver Crown car or something he would be embraced by the fans, after so many years away.

I read somewhere in discussing his future, when he gets ready to slow down his Cup career he wants to do more road racing and over seas stuff, but he won't do Late Models and Chili Bowl and stuff like that. That's a real shame.

Yeah,I remember when CRA went down to yuma to run and JW Hunt had flown in Jack Hewitt to run with Leland, billy,Richard and that bunch and I ran into him at the track. He said he was doing commentary for some cable co (not espn) and he told me how much he missed it. I think that year he was a Rookie with NASCAR.

I remember that race well,it was rained out Sat night and we stayed over in some cheap motel down by the border. The next day it was real iffy and they asked Jack what he thought of the track. Oh, I've been on much worse he said, all you have to do is go fast enough and you fly right over those holes. Tipical Hewitt.

Boat decided to run up top and threw so much mud on the wall and dirt up against it you couldn't tell where the track stopped and the wall begain. He just kept going higher untill he drove it right out of the park between 3&4....
