Chico Swap Meet and King of California Banquet

The start of a new year always leads us toward the annual Racers Swap Meet at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. The swap meet will take place this Saturday, January 10, around the Silver Dollar Pavilion. The public is welcome to attend around 8am. If you are planning on selling items, it is recommend to arrive at 7:30 am. The racers swap meet will continue until people start to fizzle out.

That night, the 2008 King of California awards banquet will take place at Feather Falls Casino in Oroville. The banquet will start at 6 pm with a cocktail hour. Dinner will be served around 7 pm. The top ten in points will be recognized. Hosts of the event will include Troy Hennig and Gary Thomas. This year’s champion, Jonathan Allard, and his team, are expected to fly home from Australia to be present at the ceremony. Other awards will include Rookie of the Year and the first annual HoservilleCA award. Mike Doyle has prepared a video to played at the banquet. He has also put together a top ten in points video introduction for each driver as they walk towards the stage.

Within the next few weeks a complete press release will detail the 2009 race season at Silver Dollar Speedway.
