Terrell geared up for action in upcoming high dollar Trophy Cup at the Tulare Thunderbowlo

By Bill Sullivan

TULARE, CA (10-23-08) - After more than a month long hiatus, Sebastopol’s Bradley Terrell will return to the drivers’ seat of his Argonaut Construction-Millhouse Glass sponsored #43 Maxim sprint car later this week to compete in California’s most lucrative race for 360 sprint cars. Terrell will be on the entry list for the prestigious15th Annual Trophy Cup, the high dollar event that benefits the Make a Wish Foundation annually at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway.

The last time Bradley Terrell strapped into a sprint car was in early September when he competed at Silver Dollar Speedway for the annual Pacific Sprint Cup Invitational Civil War event. On that night a potential top five run concluded with a flat tire but Terrell managed to salvage a 16th place finish in the 30-lap feature event.

Since that Wednesday night in Chico a busy personal schedule has kept Terrell from competing on a regular basis. Now his family owned team has regrouped, recharged and the 17-year-old third year sprint car driver is looking forward to competing in the second Trophy Cup of his career.

“I can’t wait to get back on the track this weekend,” said Terrell. “This is our second year running in the Trophy Cup and I’m really excited to be coming back for this race. I have to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication over the past few weeks as we regrouped and prepared for this event, my family, my crew and all my sponsors and a whole lot of friends have worked hard to get us back on track.”

The Trophy Cup’s unique format will be a bit different this year with the addition of the extra night of racing that will lead up to the 50 lap Saturday night main event that will be totally inverted based on points acquired up to that point. With over $112,000 up for grabs over the three day period, Terrell hopes to fare well in his final race of the 2008 racing season, an event that is very special as it all takes place for a good cause.

During this season, Terrell completed his most successful year behind the wheel of a full sized sprint car. At his home track of Petaluma Speedway, Terrell claimed a total of four feature victories on the 3/8 mile action track. In the travelling Civil War campaign, Terrell garnered one top five finish, three top tens and two heat race wins in the 9 races he competed in and finished the year 19th in the overall standings of the series.

“We had a really strong year this year,” added Terrell. “We got a late start to the season and we still managed to advance in the points at both Petaluma and the Civil War Series. My team and crew did a great job of coming from behind and making up some lost ground early in the year.”
