In times of tragedy the racing community and family is one that always comes together, even those who may be arch enemies can be seen working together for a good cause. Tomorrow night I am asking all of you to come together to help, drivers, fans, everyone. At this time it appears our good friend Dan Ramey did not have a great deal of life insurance and it is goingto be quite costly to transport him back to El Dorado County from Las Vegas and then the cost of services will add up, Dan's only immediate family is his son Dan Jr. who is working so hard to pick up the pieces in the wake of this tragedy.

Tomorrow night we will put together a pass the helmet event that will take place at some point early in the program in the grandstands. Additonally, a collection will be taken in the pit area in some fashion and the 14R car pit area will be a designated collection point for those in the pits looking to contribute.

From my past experience in this (i.e. Billy Sellers, Capitol Quarter Midgets, etc) you, the fans and drivers always step up to the plate in a huge way to help a friend or competitor in need. Dan Ramey was a very special friend to all of us, not only in the sport of auto racing but in life in general. Tomorrow night is $5 night at Placerville, if possible I ask if all of us can come together and spare that extra dollar or two to help our dear friend have a class memorial service which he rightfully deserves.

Details of the exact timing of this will be announced once the program at Placerville begins Saturday night. Thank all of you ahead of time, I know we can do this !
