I found this picture while looking at a bunch of old photos. Does anyone have some info on the driver?
On the back of the picture it says Norman "Butch Bullet" Bahr from Nebraska. It was taken at Elma, WA on June 13, 1976, one of the Dirt Cup tracks. Thanks for any info about this guy.

Well I can tell you he was from Grand Island, Nebraska at one time. Then moved out to California I believe. He drove around the Nebraska/Iowa area tracks during the 70's & maybe some in the 80's as well as some traveling.
I do recall he raced Knoxville about 7 or 8 years ago. He was driving an old TOGNOTTI chassis. He wrecked on a preliminary nite and I ended up with his right rear rim, which was slightly askew after the wreck.
You might try going to IBRACN's website and email Brad. We grew up together here in Nebraska and he will know more about Butch than I. Brad's dad used to wrench on a sprint/modified and I'm sure they know Butch fairly well.

A genius.....he could engineer anything...build anything....but didn't know to handle his finances. He raced a lot in the midwest and Knoxville without a lot of success. The car was fast but couldn't finish a lot of races. Eventually moved to California and started an engineering business. After many years, he came back to the midwest and tried sprint car racing again without much luck. He was a good guy, smart guy, but a wierd guy. He had fun racing but I think he had more fun building things for the cars.
