All children who compete will be awarded presentation ribbons.
“I love competing on kids night, it’s the best night ever,” says former track champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn. “I miss those days of being a tike on a trike and racing around the track. That’s how I got into sprint car racing because when I was 16 the officials told me I was too big for the bike races and black flagged me so I made my Dad hand over the sprint car. They didn’t know what they got themselves into with that.”
Following the kids races on Saturday, a brand new BMX bicycle will be raffled off and every youngster in the stands has a chance to win. The new bicycle is furnished by the Morrison Concrete of Foresthill. Morrison Concrete is owned and operated by longtime open wheel racer Guy Morrison and his wife Cindy. For decades the Morrison family has been involved with sprint car racing in the golden state. In the early days it was Keith “the snake” Morrison winning races at Placerville Speedway while his wife Donna worked on staff at the speedway, known then as “Hangtown Speedway.”More recently Keith and Donna’s sons, Guy and Vern Morrison have been known for their success behing the wheel. Guy Morrison continues to drive a car owned by his brother while Guy and Cindy have become car owners, providing a seat for Mark Gibbs of Elk Grove in their second team car.
In addition to the new bicycle on Saturday, Morrison Concrete will furnish nearly 100 frisbees that the race drivers will toss into the stands on Saturday night to the hundreds of kids in attendance. The fanfare does not stop their, the local concrete company will also award a $500 bonus to the winner of the sprint car main event, making it $2000 to win Saturday night.
“This is a big night for the little guys at Placerville Speedway, and this year with $2000 to win it’s a big night for the big guys too,” said Bill Sullivan, communications director for Placerville Speedway. “The Morrison name is embedded in the history of this racetrack. Having Morrison Concrete come aboard for Kids Night will be appreciated by everyone, its nice to have a racing family continue to support us the way that they do.”

It’s really a win-win night for families and kids Saturday night and we encourage everyone with children to come out to Placerville Speedway this Saturday and check us out on Saturday and Sunday.”
