Jason Meyers was discussing Knoxville's left and right rear tire mandates on yesterday's show and I was wondering how that rule may have played a role in Wednesday's racing. It was interesting that Wayne Johnson and Danny Lasoski have run the harder tires all season while this is something different for the WoO teams. The Pennsylvaia teams really struggled last night, too.

Looking at points, Lasoski, Henderson and Maeschen were all in the top ten and are Knoxville regulars.Johnson has ran a lot at Knoxville this year.

Just curious about whether or not the rule had an effect on the racing or the status of track conditions as the night wore on. I'm sure the topic will be brought up on today's edition of The Full Throttle Racig Show and subsequent shows as well.

Probably thinking too much about the tire rule, and not enough about the fact that they are Knoxville Regulars as you stated. If you look back to last year, you will find Wayne Johnson in the A-Scramble. I would think it has little to do with tires....just my opinion.

By it's nature, the point of a "rule" to have an effect. So yes it had an effect - the better question is "was the tire rule good for the racing?" I would say no - this is a "National" event - no one should have the "advantage." That said I am enjoying myself and looking forward to the rest of the weekend. I say bag the compound/mfgr rule and use a one tire / night rule.

What do you mean Lasoski has run the "harder tires" all season? There is basically one RR tire used, the SC15. NOBODY runs the SC25...NOBODY! And there is only one LR tire allowed (the D12).

The tire rules have had no effect on the racing or the rubberdown tracks. We still see winners coming from the front row 90% of the time, unless a lower funded team gets lucky and starts up front. Then we get to see a better funded team come from a row or two back for a win. And we still occasionally see rubberdown tracks. We would have seen more this year, but the weather has been unseasonably cooler this year.
