All Star Circuit of Champions (31 Cars)

Welcome Mat
All of the All-Star drivers made up from the Thunder Through the Plains Tour except Chad Blonde

MIA
Wertz is definitely MIA since BRR is texting through Papa Wertz. All "3 Cali Cars" are MIA as previously mentioned according to the Huset's promoters. That would be TK, Tyler Walker, and Jonathan Allard

VIP
Since Wertz and BT24 are gone.. Smitty, Buzzkill, and BRR decide to fill the VIP for the All-Star show for the night.

Time Trials (2 laps each)
Justin Henderson (29th out) somehow set quick time to the displease of the VIP at 11.030. The results throughout the field were not given, unlike typical Huset's weekly shows to fill the Report.

Time Trials Grade: D-, since the All-Stars and/or Huset's didn't give the rundown for all of the drivers.

Heats (Top Inverted from TT, Top to the A)
Heat 1 Starting Order: 8 Laps

11B

Brock Mayes

Row 1

Brandon Martin

30c

Lance Dewease

Row 3

24M

John Miller

Row 4

101

Chuck McGillivray

Heat 1 Finish: 1W 11B 11M 20E 30C/ D1 24M 101

Heat 1 Notes: Single-file affair saw Meyer take the point as Dewease, in his Huset's debut, shows Henderson how to start the heat and takes the transfer from him.

Heat 2 Starting Order: 8 Laps

9M

Marlon Jones

Row 1

12L

John Lambertz

23w

Scott Winters

Row 2

11x

Gregg Bakker

13

Mark Dobmeier

Row 3

Jeremy Campbell

3B

Brad Greer

Row 4

16

Lee Stark

Heat 2 Finish: 9M 12L 11x 23w 0 13 16 3B

Heat 2 Notes: Jones took the lead right away as the rest followed him to the checkered in the fast heat. Dobmeier couldn't even get around Campbell for the transfer, which lets you know how bad the heats are

Heat 3 Starting Order: 8 Laps

33

Gordy Vogelaar

Row 1

W20

Greg Wilson

56R

Ryan Myers

Row 2

56

Johnn Crressman

16x

Gary DeWall

Row 3

2

Dale Blaney

17B

Ryan Bickett

Row 4

28

Jared Jansen

Heat 3 Finish: W20 33 16x 56R 2/ 17B 28 56

Heat 3 Notes: Wilson took the lead on the start as DeWall blew by Myers for 5th with Blaney in tow. They would be saved as Cressman would get loose out of 2 and DeWall gave him a deservingly right rear to send him into the backstretch inside concrete wall with debris flying everywhere. Blaney would luckily get the transfer as he was smoking the rest of the way.

Heat 4 Starting Order: 8 Laps

22T

Melinda Throckmorton

Row 1

4

Wade Nygaard

96au

Bruce White

Row 2

1x

Randy Hannagan

83

Tim Shaffer

Row 3

57x

Jake Peters

2D

Dusty Ballenger

Row 4

Heat 4 Finish: 4 22T 83 1x 57x/ 96au 2D

Heat 4 Notes: Nygaard took the lead easily from the 16 year old lady in her debut at the high-banked track. Again, another follow –the-leader track even though Hannagan, Shaffer, and Peters were able to pass White for the last transfer spots. Shaffer even passed Hannagan for another spot.

Heat Grades: F; these heats were even worse than the Outlaw heats when they warranted no passing throughout. The track looked promising after time trials with no sub-10 second laps but with no 360s on the bill, that would mess that up.

B Feature (Top 4 Tag the A, 12 Laps)
Starting Order:

D1

Henderson

Row 1

3B

Greer

101

McGillivray

Row 4

2D

Ballenger

28

Jansen

Row 5

16

Stark

56

Cressman (DNS)

B Feature Finish:13 2D 96au 16/ 28 24M D1 101 17B 3b 56

B Feature Notes: Dobmeier checked out on the rest of field with Henderson in tow, and especially in tow, until his engine went sour about halfway through. He stopped on the track, instead of pulling in, to see if they could fix the car but they couldn't to the elation of the adopted VIP. Pretty sad when you go from fast time to not making the A. Otherwise it was hot laps for the 13 with the rest of the field fighting for positions for the A.

B Feature Grade: A+; Henderson shows his true colors coming up for the Nationals when he can't even make the feature, after setting quick time, for the 31 car field. Only a sign of things to come for the week to come according to the VIP.

A Feature (30 Laps)
Starting Order: Top 6 from TT drew for starting positions

Initial start was a perfect one as Campbell sprinted into the lead with the #2 of Blaney following him in 2nd. Blaney would track him down in the non-stop affair and would take the lead on lap 8 in lapped traffic. Blaney would be going through lapped traffic at about lap 12with Shaffer moving into 3rd in the Call #83 from his 5th starting spot on the yet narrow track

Brandon Martin, in also his first appearance at the track, would be moving into the 2nd spot in his #11M and would be making ground on the Fisher #2 of Blaney. This is about the point where Shaffer was making ground through the lappers and would move into 2nd with 8 laps to go with Martin in 3rd.

Coming to the white flag, Blaney was smoking oil out of the engine the whole night when it was finally letting go until Shaffer would pass him at the white flag for the $5,000 victory, his 2nd of the Thunder Through the Plains, and 1st career Huset's 410 victory. Dewease would pick up a crucial 2nd place over Blaney as he bleeded to 3rd ahead of Martin in 4th and Dobmeier from 12th on the narrow track that was looking to widen out.

Finish: 83 30c 2 11M 13 0 11x 23w 1x 57x/ w20 11b 1w 20e 16x 12L 56R 9M 22T 33 96au 16 2D 4

A Feature Grade: C-; even though there were 3 lead changes throughout the non-stop 30 lapper, the track never widened out to what its been all year, including the narrow WoO events. The Posse upon the VIP thought it was a great race, but upon further review of the narrow track, they needed to be told how bad it sucked especially after a night at Knoxville. Don't worry guys, you'll be amazed of the total invert come a few days!

360s
Off the bill tonight again for some strange reason even though it was a Sunday night points race for everybody.

FOAW: I really can't give one tonight outside of Dobmeier who was passing most of the cars. If he was given a few cautions he had a damn good shot of winning the thing come clean air. Heres to good luck to one of the the Report's favorites in the next few weeks.

Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: The grader actually coming out after the B feature for a 2nd intermission even though it looked like it was never coming out during the 1st intermission after the heats.

Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: Hot Rod giving great interviews all night long even though there were no shout outs to the Report as there was in the past. We only got a few weeks left in order to turn that around Pattison!

WTF: Track conditions SUCKED yet again throughout the night since the 360s were given the night off. Coincidence that this happens while the #27 is in Knoxville with Droud at the wheel? We think not…

"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: Watering the crap out of the track regulating a crappy track for the feature. Way to shooo an already small crowd away for a big event in the future.

Mulligan Moment: The stories heard throughout the night about the one and only movie goer of Nelligan. LMAO still hearing about them right now!

Head Scratcher: No Cali cars showing up even though "the great promoters" of Huset's said all 3 would be showing up. When Tyler Walker was asked about the show after Saturday at Knoxville, he didn't even remember when it was. Great job Rubins after a great week last week.

Thumbs Up: To an All-Star holding their own for the win. Hot Rod did a great job in the infield all night long giving great reports….. even though no shouts out were given to the Report.

Thumbs Down: To an All-Star holding their own for the win on a crappy track, especally after he couldn't hold his own the last time he was here…… missing the A feature with the WoO

Prime Mover: Dobs coming from 12th to 5th was about the only guy. Shaffer came from 5th to win so Buzzkil won the dollar-dollar bill pool in the VIP.

Trophy Queen Grade: The usual dollar-dollar bill you-know-whats from the past. This is getting old in a hurry, a big hurry. Get that dark brunette back from last week with the big smile, via Dobs, back into Victory Lane!

Closing Stat of the Night: 31 cars was more than any of the WoO shows both times. Great to have Posse to show up in South Dakota and have them claim the winner as "Steel City Posse!"

Final Thought: Great to see Posse show up (other than Lance) for a race in the Midwest. We'll see you guys in a couple of days down in Knoxville. Also only a couple of days until the BIG announcement/surprise is made to the sprint car world... via the Report!

Heat 3 Notes: Wilson took the lead on the start as DeWall blew by Myers for 5th with Blaney in tow. Blaney would luckily get the transfer as he was smoking the rest of the way. Unsure why you felt it to be "deservingly"? But I couldn't help but noticed you didn't have anything about Dobmeyers wing having to be switched due to Allstar Officials finding the one on his car when he showed up wasn't legal.

Dobmeier's wing was found to be against Allstar rules in pre-race tech. The Allstars have a couple minor rule differences with the wing that Dobs was unaware of, but I'm not sure of the exact rule differences. Didn't seem to phase him much as he was about the only person all night who was able to pass a few cars and like Big J said, if there were a couple cautions, he would have made a strong bid for the win. As far as Big J stating Cressman recieved a well deserved right rear; if you get completely sideways coming out of turn two in front of half the field on a TACKY track, your lucky if a right rear is the only thing you get. Cressman's just lucky his little "driver error" didn't cause both him and DeWall to take nasty tumbles down the back strait.

The Report also failed to mention Dobmeiers slick move after the A feature running over a lapped car and rolling it. That should of been the dumbass move of the week and year. Since there was no glowing words about Winters I suppose he spurned you also.

I've seen many many drivers dump one after the race and even getting lined up. It happens.

Not his fault dumbasses decide to stop before the flagstand when coming to the checkers when they're a lap down. Good to see your boy Henderson move up through the feature.. uhhhh, wait a second.. he didn't make the feature did he? You probably didn't see that as your hands have been covering your face the whole year since the flukish start to it for him.

And nothing has changed on the Winters front. He's still the 2nd best driver you get to see on a weekly basis. There's news coming, don't you worry..

Chucknutts- If you get loose out of 2 on a tacky track and can't lift for a guy passing you, then yes you deservingly get a right rear.

Sorry not a big fan of Henderson, and the accident happened it turn one by the way. Why do you assume everyone who questions the accuracy of the lopsided reporting are Henderson fans. You must lead a very lonely existence only looking for that instant gratification. Better stock up on knee pads for the VIP area.

Funny how it seems your the only one that thinks its lopsided reporting on a week-to-week basis...

And don't worry about the VIP, we're just fine integrating people from 1000+ miles away for weekly shows. That in itself should show you how big the Report has gotten in its short existence. Face it, its a big hit and your the only one that disagrees with it... the truth really does hurt, don't it?

I wouldn't say the report is lopsided at all. Big J has his favorites and gives them props when need be. He also dislikes a certain driver and puts it out there, nothing wrong with showing opinion on a message board. Thought about trying to find the VIP last night Big J, but never got around to it. Maybe next time I decide to make the trip down to Husets I will have to look you up.

I think it is a little lopsided also. I'm by no means saying that I don't enjoy it though. You and your "VIP" have your favorites and you also have your non favorites. You favorites do get a little more praise than your non favorites and you rag on the non's. If one of the "non favorites" clipped a car at the completion of the race and went over it would be labeled as the dumb ass move of the night, but since it was Dobs it gets no mention.

I think Bias may be a better term for it than lopsided. Big J reports on what/who he likes and if it happens to be drivers we don't like than so be it. It is comical we all can admit that. I think its all in good fun!

Surprising really that your report wasn't even more jaded this week with the likes of BRR, Smitty and KillerBuzz in the VIP. Shame the surface didn't open up a bit, I really talked up Husets a bunch to those 3 and now I am gonna hear it from them. Good stuff.

Shaffer Hauls to O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion Win at Husets

Tim Shaffer and the Call Motorsports #83 found themselves in victory lane for the 2nd time in 4 days as the team took home the top honors and the $5,000 check in the final night of the 2008 Thunder Through the Plains. The win is Shaffer's 3rd of the year since taking over duties with the team in just 6 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions events.

"The Steel City Outlaw" took over the position on lap 29 of the 30 lap affair while racing Dale Blaney in the George Fisher owned/wrenched #2 sprinter. In a feature event that saw no cautions or red flags, had a total of 4 lead changes on the super fast racing surface that would give many scorers headaches. Shaffer was able to use a few different lines and lap traffic to get the job done.

In the onset of the 30-lapper Jeremy Campbell in the Rick Ferkel #0 would take the point, only to relegate that to Brandon Martin in the Level Performance #11M on lap 11 using the highline. Martin's lead would slip away when Dale Blaney snuck under him on lap 18. Lance Dewease in the Catoctin #30C brought home 2nd nipping a 3rd place Dale Blaney. Brandon Martin would end up in the 4th position leading Mark Dobmeier in the Lunstra Motorsports #13 machine to round out the top 5.

Mark Dobmeier would have to race his way into the feature event from the stout B-Main. Dobmeier would lead all circuits as Dusty Ballenger and Bruce White would make top 3. Lee Stark would garner the final transfer slot, leaving 7 cars out of the main event.

In the Dash event, Jeremy Campbell would jump out to the early lead and hold onto it for the 6 laps. The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions Dash event is for members only and allows for additional season points and the top 6 qualifying members one last important look at the racing surface. Campbell would take in tow, Dale Blaney, Tim Shaffer, Lance Dewease, Randy Hannagan, and Brandon Martin.

Chad Meyer would take the initial green flag of the first heat and show the way around the famous oval. Meyer led Brock Mayes and Brandon Martin to the checkered for the top 3 positions. Marlon Jones would continue the local flavor defending the home turf in the 2nd affair. John Lambertz and Greg Bakker would follow to make a 1-2-3 finish for the locals. Greg Wilson took care of the competition in the 3rd heat race. Always a tough competitor, Wilson would lead locals Gordy Vogelaar and Gary Dewall. Wade Nygaard would take home the checkered in the 4th event. Nygaard lead Miranda Throckmorton and Tim Shaffer to round out the top 3.

In qualifying, Justin Henderson found the quickest way around a heavy track. Henderson turned in a late run 11.030 fast time. Jeremy Campbell was second quick with an 11.052 run and Dale Blaney, third quick, with an 11.106.

The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions take a week off and then head west again for a 2 night weekend on August 15th and 16th. August 15th, the series will travel to Benton Race Park in Benton, Missouri and then the traveling warriors will take to one of the Midwest's top tracks, Riverside International Speedway, commonly known as "The Ditch," on the 16th.

Official Results

Qualifying:

1- Justin Henderson - D1-11.03

2- Jeremy Campbell - 0-11.052
