No Robert Bell all season, and I see on his website that he is returning just in time for the Nationals.
Great Guy that is out there for the fun of it instead of the $$$ and treats it like fun and not a business.
I am glad to see him back, thought the economy and the floods had gotten the best of him this year.
Good Luck Robert!

Anybody else find it funny that his "Fan of the Month" is named Smurf?

Sweet! I love that guy. Heard some rumors a while back that he owed people some money and that's why he couldn't race. Smurf is a good ol boy from Colfax. He'd do anything to help a friend. And he's been known to drink a beer or two at the Brown Bus!

A true throw back to what a "blue collar" racer was all about. Good Luck Robert!

He is one terrific guy who really loves his fans
Stop by his trailer sometime. I understand he has t-shirts for sale.

I've told this story before but it's worth repeating.
A half dozen or so years ago I was at the Knoxville Banquet and Robert announced his retirement because he didn't have a car that would be legal the next season (chasis thickness I think). Later on in the evening when they had their draws for new chasis good ol' Robert Bell won one. When he comes up to accept his award he proceeded to make his coming out of retirement speech and got a standing ovation, it was the highlight of the night for me and many others and I don't even know the guy. Shortest retirement in history methinks, Take It Easy....

It wasn't that Robert owed people money. Gotta love the rumors. He blew the engine at Princeton last year running with the Outlaws. Because of the weather, he had problems getting his crops out and sold, so there wasn't any money to fix it. He has been working long weeks this year and saving all of his money up just to get an engine. He bought one off of a very nice person last weekend and is working with his friends to get it in the car so he can get to Nationals. He's been really depressed this year since he hasn't had the ability to race, but he's very excited to get back! Come see him at Nationals! He'd really appreciate it!
