3 cars qualifies and then the skies fell. After a fair amount of rain they called it. No raindate, just refunds.

Was going to go. Saw the rain at 2:30 or 3 and changed my mind. Not sure why they gave it a whirl as the rain area was growing as it traveled east. With gas prices , save peoples money for another day.

The race teams were already in the area having raced at Britt the night before. I90 isn't very far from Racine so from a travel standpoint it was on their route home anyways. Why not try it and hope for the best?

Going by the forecast and radar I decided I'd have a better chance of getting a night of racing in at Cedar Lake so I stayed home. I ended up going to the basement when the sirens went off then spending an hour and a half without power. Fortunately this time there wasn't any hail or wind damage. I'm still waiting to have my roof done after the hail we got the night of the Hugo tornado.

Deer Creek would have been $50 gas. I went to the bar when the power came back on, had a couple beers and a burger + tip for $20 and still managed to pocket $30 of what the gas would have been to Deer Creek. We'll apply that $30 towards gas to Arlington next week and hope for better weather.

It's good to be an optomist and to support racing but there's a fine line between optomistic race fan and stupid. I heard from several people up here in the Twin Cities area who made the same decision when they saw what was coming on the radar. Too bad they don't have a rain date but Deer Creek and all the other tracks in the area have a full schedule of specials during the coming weeks. It's a gamble for these promoters, especially at tracks where they don't have a regular Sprint Car following, to find open dates that are acceptable to everyone involved. The Deer Creek fan base is mostly into Modifieds and Late Models so what's on tap for those divisions is a big factor in scheduling.
