Whoa, back up the bus Chuck:
Affiliated Foods did not return as title sponsor two years ago when the president and long-time supporter of the event passed away.
We secured O'Reilly's Auto Parts last year and Hoosier as title sponsors, and they are still title sponsors of the event. Nothing has changed there.
This particular promotion is an additional event that will be taking place at the STN, and since this announcement a few hours ago, I've been contacted by two racing industry companies that are reviewing the details.
As soon as we secure a sponsor for this segment of the STN, there will be a follow-up announcement with the details of the promotion, so you'll be clued in on it at that point.
Thanks.

My bad...
But I guess that it shows how little attention I paid the replacement of Associated Foods by O'Reilly/Hoosier....or how well I've Associated with the STN....

Well, there's only one solution for that problem:
You need to block October 23-25 on your schedule and make a trip to I-30 Speedway to get yourself fully 're-affiliated' with this action-packed event!
And outside of this additional promotion, there's actually more news on the event coming up in the next few weeks...stay tuned!

i thought the big race car counts would be down this year - Knoxville 360 nat's aint gone down too much. looks like they will still have 100+. I hope the STN still stays at or above 100. that was such an awesome race last year. will be even better this year if I can get someone to go out and tape seats down at the top. by all rights they shouldnt let peeps do that though. I was there at 1pm - 6 hours before the race on fri. and sat. to sit just above halfway up. they should let those hardcore folks like me who get there that early eligible for the top rows.
but anyhow. awesome race last year. I just love that race - the track is awesome. what dmantx is referring to is what was the Short Track Shootout last year - it takes accumalated points from STN and the Cowtown race - and they have a dash for it. had quite a healthy sum for it last year. its one of those great ideas that a fan has come up with and pursued. Darin Short = one really really cool dude. I highly hope a company steps up big time to take this to the next level. the short and long term benefits for fans, drivers, and the overall show - is unmatched.
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

Well, OKCfan12, you are correct.
This promo needs a title sponsor to continue.
This is designed to help the top performing traveling racers (between Cowtown's ASCS Nationals Oct 10-11 and the I-30 Speedway's Short Track Nationals Oct 23-25) another chance at getting some well deserved money.
Since the cat is kind of out of the bag now, there's already $2,000 in the kitty for it, but for example:
With a $5,000 sponsor, the event will be an 8-car, 10-lap race that will take place about 10 minutes following the STN A-feature on Oct 25. The purse will be broken down like this example: $2,000/win, then the balance will pay: $1,200, $1,000, $700, $600 and $500 down to 8th.
Of course, if a larger sponsor will come on board, then it will be revised accordingly. Possibly including more cars.
The event sponsorship also includes booth/display space at the STN along with (2) 3-day pit passes.
So, it's a really good deal for a sponsor. And it's a good deal for the race teams - especially with the higher cost of travel these days. And it's a 'free' race for the fans.
But we need someone to step up to become involved for it to happen.
If you know of someone that could benefit from the huge amount of national publicity and advertising value the Shootout will bring them, please have them contact Darin at [email protected] - and to view the recap of the '07 promotion, please visit www.darinshort.com/shootout.html - and thanks again!

Why spend $500 when you can spend only $19.95, and if you act now you can get two for the same price!

Heck, if someone steps up, we'll even throw in a lifetime supply of 'Shamwow!' towels.
This is the first time in years there have been so many back-to-back big fall races for sprint cars - all within the same relative area - and the same rules - and it would be great to reward the top performing drivers that participate in them with the STS bonus money:
Oct. 10-11 ASCS Nationals, Cowtown Speedway (leg 1 of Short Track Shootout), Ft. Worth
Oct 17-18 ASCS Winternationals, Devils Bowl, Dallas
Oct 23-25 21st annual Short Track Nationals, I-30 Speedway, Little Rock (final leg of STS, practice Oct 22)
Oct 30-Nov 1 Raindate weekend for STN (plus WoO Finals in Charlotte, plus TMS NASCAR)
Nov 7-8 2nd annual November Sprint Shootout, Cowtown Speedway, Ft. Worth (practice Nov 6)
And it couldn't have come at a better time. With the high cost of travel, teams can run all 4 events within about a 4.5 hour radius. It's great for fans too.
I've already had teams from as far away as MN contact me with questions; as they are working on their fall schedule and game plan.
I would think this power-packed schedule will help more far away teams make the decision to come, as they can stay for the month without a bunch of back and forth traveling. Or with a bit of planning, leave their hauler and fly home during the week; as there are tons of flights out of LIT, DFW and DAL.
Purse structure and more information will be posted soon for the Cowtown events, along with any new information regarding the STS.
