Knoxville Fans,

Someone was talking about there only being about 37 car registered for the Natl's... I looked and it looks to be around 80... Someone on here posted Cappy was hoping to get around 80... If they have eighty or so has there been anything said what they are going to do? i.e. five heats with 8 cars? four heats with 10 cars? or?

Any rumors out there in the central part of the country...???

I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

My guess that if there are only 80 cars they will have 5 heats of 8 cars each night with no non Qualifying heats. But I don't see that happening if all come who are registered and plus the ones that everyone think will show we should have 100.

The economy is tough right now for a race car but that might help a nationals car count cause it is a good pay out for a driver to just show up and atleast race ok.

still a few names not on there, think I counted 91, so 100 is very likely, hell if they do not hit 100 might be a few more 360 cars enter(if only 50 cars on qualifying night, they finish last, get their money back and free pit passes rest of week for driver and 4 buddies)

I care because I want to see Shatz, Saldana, Kinser, Lasoski have to work themselves around 9 cars in the heat race verses 6 or 7. On a heavy track at Knoxville that can be a damn hard task to do. I've seen them come from 10th to win it before but it is tough! Sammy Swindell & Tyler Walker both did it on the same night a few years back.

I care too. The WoO invert 6, take 5 or 6 is pretty lame.

You are correct. JR Jr was 13th quick at Cedar Lake and he started in the third row of his heat. Let's just say the WoO format is lame from start to finsih.

Car count will not be a problem. But Knoxville needs to emphasize advertising in areas within a couple hundred miles of the track in order to make up for some of the folks who will not travel as far this year.

that is one of the better ideas I have seen on hoseheads!!!

I also agree it does matter... seeing the guys go bonsai into turn 1 and 2 on the outside trying to pass as many cars as possible before everyone gets strung out is one of the more awesome sights in all of racing... if only 70 cars show up or something like that, then there would be a lot of downtime over 4 nights of racing and while Iowa is a beautiful part of the country, the racing is definitely a lot than sight seeing/wasting time...

Tyler Walker, if I remember right, passed all 10 cars by the time he came out of turn two... it was awesome...

I don't know the stats, but my impression has been since the weight rule came in... the 10th to 1st charges have decreased... it seems that way anyway...

Don't worry guys... there are plenty of names missing on the list that will show. There will be 100+.

I just heard there sure as hell wasn't any problem with the car count at the Knoxville IMCA mod race last night. 190+ cars on hand and the biggest crowd by double he's ever seen at this race in the stands. This with the forecast of rain for Thursday night (which it did.)

183 Mod's at Knoxville last night... 121 A-Mods and 62 sport mods. The crowd was very slim compared to the sprints of course, but for the Harris Clash was not bad. The car count has always been strong... 120ish...due to not competing with Osky on Wednesday's or the State Fairgrounds on Fridays. Plus they upped the payout... someone told me $2,000 to win.

Each team had their rig in the infield. It was FULL.

Very impressive indeed!!! Would have loved to have been there. I've seen Sprints and LM's at Knoxville but never seen the Mods. Iowa really is a dirt track racing mecca!!!
