Run From Tail Of B Misses By One For Larson At Mark Forni Classic

Placerville, CA, July 12, 2008. Unless a driver is coming out of the C-main, the prospect of running a B-main event is never the desired way into a night’s feature race. Too many unknowns can derail even the best drivers on their way to a transfer in the final race. At Saturday’s third annual $5,000 to win Mark Forni Classic race at Placerville Speedway Kyle Larson found that out first hand as a rare miscue on lap two of the B-main event led to the young driver missing his first main event of the season.

Larson’s night began in good fashion as he qualified eighth fast of the 31 cars pitted. However, starting in the third row of a heat race on this night and needing a top four finish to transfer into the main event was to be a tall order. On a fast, tacky track that provided little passing Larson started fifth and finished sixth in his heat, as six of the top ten qualifiers were relegated to the B-main.

Needing a top four finish to make the A-main Larson started fifth in the 12 lap event. While running sixth on lap two, Larson banged off the cushion in turn three, getting his Dave and Debbie Vertullo CRV Racing Products/Eagle/Kistler up on two wheels. Although Larson was able to get the car back on all fours, he came to a stop inside the berm at the bottom of turn four. Larson restarted 15th with 11 laps to go and made a spirited run back to the front, but his effort fell one spot short with a fifth place finish at the checkered flag.

Larson’s racing efforts are sponsored by CRV Racing Products, Starr Real Estate and Property Management, Global ParkerStore, Safety Solutions – LFT Technologies, D & J Towing, RPM Indoor Kart Racing and Conference Center, A.R.T. Ent. Speed Equipment, Wion’s Body Shop and Powdercoating, JW Web Design, Mophead Graphix, SWEPCO Lubricants, and Sierra Tire and Wheel.
