Okay,

Here's one... I pondered this all the way home last night...

Is it better to race in the afternoon when the track conditions will suck, but more people are able to stay and watch the race?

-or-

Is it better to race say, Sunday evening when conditions are better but a lot of people aren't able to make it due to work, travel, etc.? I am hoping all the cars make it back...

I am excited to see the racing tonight and I think the track conditions will be pretty good with overcast skies most of the day...but none of the other 5 guys in my group are able to make it back tonight... so I am lone rangering the drive tonight...

So... better racing vs. a lot of people missing out on any racing? which one is better?

I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.  

I just talked to my brother who is out there and he said that they had 4 inches of rain. Would it even be possible to get the track ready by noon? If so, they should race at noon, I'm sure there would be plenty of moisture in the track to keep it from laying rubber.

The last day race I saw was at the old San Jose Fairgrounds; and well, I can't say that I really saw much, what with all of the dust.....

And it was pretty much a one lane deal.....I swore then that it wasmy last daytime show...

I always take the following Monday with vacation hours on the highest profile race weekends.

Just in case a Sunday race is used, covered with the extra day. When the weekend runs as scheduled and I am back home Sunday, I am able to report to work on the Monday and have the flexibility to have a Supervisor nix the hours back into the vacation bank for another time.

One of the many lessons learned during my military service was taken from some obscure guy who coined the phrase-

"Expect the best, plan for the worst and prepare to be surprised."
