Allow me to piggy-back on the post Moon-Was a great night for Scott Uttech.

Official stuff should be posted soon, over at IRASprints.Org. This is just a teaser, incomplete as rundowns are never announced anymore. I could hang out at the pay window, but it takes too long for a represenative from each of the 30+ teams to hit the window in a timely manner...

Bill Wirth, Wirth 53W, No Time.

A quickly drying track gave away very early in qualifications sending several drivers into spins and one-laps including Neitzel, Warren, Haeni. Wirth suffers from mechanical issues after hot laps and was done for the night, as Kertscher also ran a hot lap session and was done with...?

Lane Automotive Heat Race (10 Laps) Top-4 transfer.
1. Scott Semmelman [2]; 2. Billy Balog [5]; 3. Rusty Egan [1]; 4. Todd Daun [6]; 5. Donny Goeden [3]; 6. Joe Symoens [7]; 7. Cainen Riemann [8]; 8. Kris Spitz [4]; DNF-9. Dan VanDerVere [9].

Egan would take the initial lead for ¾ of a lap until the red is out after contact between at least Daun and Spitz, leaved Spitz onto his side. He was Ok. Complete restart. Semmelman takes the lead over Balog, Egan and Goeden with a quickly closing Symoens down low as Daun is the only one running the higher line. By mid-way the field is single-file mostly down low so the yellow is out after Goeden spins a 360 through turn 3-4. Symons receives the transfer spot for the restart highly contested by Daun and the duo would run side-by-side for a couple laps. The yellow is out after Riemann initially spins in turn 2 catches young VanDerVere to also spin. Goeden would move into 5th on the restart out of turn 2 and challenge Daun for the transfer until the white flag is replaced by yellow after VanDerVere is sent pit side for his second spin along the backstretch wall. The Green-White-Checker finale saw only Goeden and Daun furiously battle for the transfer spot and at times, nearly touch wheels.

Weld Wheels Second Heat Race
1. Scott Uttech [2]; 2. Mike Reinke [6]; 3. Kurt Winker [5]; 4. Billy Warren [8]; 5. Billy Hafemann [7]; 6. Tim VanDerVere [4]; 7. Kirk Fehrman [9]; 8. Russel Borland [1]; DNF-9. Kurt Davis [3].

Uttech into a short lived initial lead until VanDerVere spins to a stall out of turn 2. Davis drops from 2nd to 4th out of turn 2 on the restart. A debris caution after the first official lap was needed for a traffic cone knocked into the racing surface in turn 4. Uttech leads Reinke, Davis, Borland, Winker to the green. Lap-5: Yellow is out Borland spun and stalled low in turn 2. Winker takes advantage of his new transfer spot and more racing into 3rd out of turns 1-2. Davis is sent to 6th by Warren and Hafemann through turns 3-4. Lap-7: Yellow is out after Davis blasted the infield tire barrier low in turn 1. Obvious front end damage end his heat and for the most part the night. Uttech lead the parade down-low keeping the field on the narrow groove for the waning laps.

VMAC Racing Products Heat Race
1. Scott Neitzel [1]; 2. Brian Kristan [2]; 3. Darrel Dodd [3]; 4. Tommy Sexton Jr. [6]; 5. Steve Meyer [5]; 6. Dave Uttech [4]; 7. Charley Osborn [7]; 8. Dave Maynard [8]; 9. Dan Shepherd [9];

Neitzel leads Kristan, Meyer, Sexton around the opening lap. Meyer would slide out of the low groove which Sexton takes full advantage through turns 1-2. Single-file through half-way and if not for the earlier snafu from Meyers and Uttech sliding out the low groove is the only reason passing cars right now is happening. Lap-6: Yellow is out after Shepherd spins a 360 low through turn 2. The only difference between the field under yellow and green for the final restart is they ran faster under green. Track has gone away.

MPD Race Products Heat Race
1. John Haeni [1]; 2. Scott Biertzer [6]; 3. Mike Dubs [7]; 4. Johnny Fahl [4]; 5. Jeremy Schroeder [8]; 6. Kim Mock [3]; DNF-7. Todd Hepfner [2]; DNF-8. Ryan Irwin [5]. DNS-Adam Schroeder.

Haeni into the short lived lead as Irwin spins between turns 3-4. Haeni leads Hepfner, Biertzer and Fahl for a lap as the yellow is out after the handle finally gives way on the high line through turns 3-4 for Hepfner. Mock takes the 4th spot for a millisecond until Dubs powers out of turn 2 on the restart. Mock spins on the seventh lap through turns 3-4. Haeni leads Biertzer, Dubs who had benefited by all the guys spinning who started in front of him to gain a transfer spot and Fahl to the restart until the yellow is out another lap later when Irwin spins on the top of turn 1-2. Hepfner pulls pit side after he went nowhere from the tail. Irwin followed suit as well. Six remaining cars for 4 spots on a track no-one can pass on was an uneventful finish.

Water was added to the track after the heats for the local yokel racing. Excessive water that is, the now slimy track was a mess for the start of the B Features and several, several track packing and hot lap sessions by both B Feature starters were needed to work the moisture into the track. Sincerely hope teams are compensated for the fuel burned-off through no-fault of their own on the guffaw with the water.

Second (First) Behling B Feature (12 Laps) Top-3 transfer.
1. Tim VanDerVere [2]; 2. Donny Goeden [3]; 3. Billy Hafemann [6]; 4. Jeremy Schroeder [8]; 5. Russel Borland [5]; 6. Ryan Irwin [1]; 7. Kirk Fehrman [9]; 8. Cainen Riemann [7]; DNF-9. Kim Mock [4].

VanDerVere takes the lead over Goeden and Irwin. Mock ducks to the low line and shoved Hafemann a groove up through turns 3-4 on the second lap and begins to stalk Irwin. Through four laps the field was settled down until Riemann gets squirrelly out of turn 4 with no incident, but next time around Mock uses the same deep down low shove through turns 3-4 and costs him and Irwin any chance of transfer by getting into Irwin. Mock is upside down and Irwin is sent to the work area with at least a flat tire on bent left rear wheel. The final laps from the restart wound down with a new top groove early as VanDerVere maintained Goeden and Hafemann at-bay as Borland held Schroeder at the line for the non-issue position of 4th.

First (Second) Behling B Feature.
1. Steve Meyer [1]; 2. Todd Hepfner [5]; 3. Kris Spitz [2]; 4. Kurt Davis [4]; 5. Dave Uttech [3]; 6. Joe Symoens [6]; 7. Charley Osborn [7]; 8. Dave Maynard [8]; 9. Dan Shepherd [10]; DNF-10. Dan VanDerVere [9].

Meyer leads the short lived initial lap until called back for a bad start. Meyer back into the head of the field on the restart over Spitz as Davis is bouncing through turns 1-2 and lost a couple of spots but quickly regains out of turn 2. VanDerVere ducks pit side around the second lap. Uttech falls to about 6th after he slides off the banking through turns 1-2 on the fourth lap as Meyer catches the tail-end the field a couple laps later. Hepfner into the transfer spot, using skill instead of pushing and shoving down the backstretch from Davis. Lap-10: Yellow is out after Maynard stops on the backstretch. Meyer leads Spitz, Hepfner and Davis to the Green-White-Checker as Hepfner again, uses a decent line and cleanly passed Spitz for the 2nd spot out of turn 4. Uttech went for a hairy ride after the checkers sliding off the banking above turns 1-2 and lands on the access road to the pit-he had to have been airborne for several feet at-speed.

Scott Uttech wins his 2nd career IRA A Feature.

Al-Marie Winker / Wayne Daun Memorial / King of Wisconsin (30 Laps)
1. Scott Uttech [1]; 2. Mike Reinke [7]; 3. Kurt Winker [3]; 4. Billy Balog [4]; 5. Scott Semmelman [2]…

Scott Biertzer [5]; Todd Daun [8]; John Haeni [9]; Scott Neitzel [10]; Steve Meyer [11]; Kris Spitz [12]; Tim VanDerVere [13]; Johnny Fahl [14]; Donny Goeden [15]; Brian Kristan [17]; Todd Hepfner [18]; Rusty Egan [19]; Billy Hafemann [20]; Mike Dubs [21]; Billy Warren [22]; DNF-Tommy Sexton Jr. [6]; DNF-Darrel Dodd [16].
Alternate: Kurt Davis.
Lap leaders: Scott Uttech 1-5, 26-30, Tommy Sexton Jr. 5-25.

Uttech takes the lead using the low line as Sexton used the high line to perfection through turns 1-2 and 3-4 for the 2nd spot while Semmelman, Balog, Winker and Biertzer fall in-line. Yellow is out on the fifth lap when Goeden spins and stalls in turn 3-4. Goeden into the work area while Kristan is showing signs of both wings with battle damage. Uttech leads a determined Sexton, Semmelman, Balog, Biertzer, Winker, Daun, Reinke, Neitzel and Haeni to the green. Sexton finally takes the lead after several runs around the high line out of turn 4 on the fifth lap down the frontstretch. Lap-7: Yellow is out after VanDerVere spins to a stall in turn 2. Dodd calls it a night. Sexton, Uttech, Balog, Semmelman, Biertzer, Winker, Daun and Reinke to the green and only when Winker takes the 5th spot with Reinke in-tow is the top positions changing around the twelfth lap as Sexton catches the tail end of the field. Sexton is comfortably leading Uttech, Balog, Semmelman, Winker, Reinke and Biertzer on Lap-17 when the yellow is out after Egan spins to a stall in turns 3-4. Kristan is charging through the field and will restart in the 10th spot. Fahl will buffer Sexton on the restart ahead of Uttech until another quick yellow for Daun spinning to a stall on Lap-18. Kristan has picked off another position with a badly beaten left side top wing panel for this next restart. Winker takes the 4th spot through turns 1-2 and the 3rd spot through turns 3-4 on the restart. Sexton was handed his hand on Lap-25 slowing to a stop out of turn 4 much to the chagrin to the partisan crowd. The final 5 lap dash was lined-up with Uttech back into the lead over Winker, Reinke, Balog, Biertzer, Semmelman, Kristan, Hepfner, Neitzel and Meyer as the Top-10. Uttech uses the low line showing smoke at-times around the track with Winker using the high line and nearly can take the lead if only just a little bit more momentum through turns 1-2 would carry him out of turns 3-4. With the white flag in the air, Winker takes to the low line entering turn 1, sliding a bit in the liquid from the 3K, which Reinke is more than obliged and takes the 2nd spot for the final lap.

Uttech stated his daughter was his good-luck charm for the race as this was her initial visit to see him race. He also thanked the families of Kurt and Todd for the Memorial Race and was deserving of the win to turn around a season that was full of promise with last season's season finale win at the Filskov Memorial.

Reinke-a former King of Wisconsin, knows the flip side of wearing the crown and robe was gracious to thanks his crew and complemented Scott on the win.

Winker thanked the fans, The Daun family and the long time friendship with the Uttech family as he was genuinely proud of Scott to take the win.

Hopefully the fans caught at least one of the twenty-three mentions of the WoO hitting the Wilmot Speedway on August 1st...Perhaps it should have been mention an even twenty four.
