This Friday night Placerville Speeedway will present its first ever sponsored July 4th event. The US Army and Gold Country Limousines will sponsor the night of racing. The Sprint cars will be $2000 to win, each stock car division will get a minimum bonus of $200 for their win and additional payout details are due to be released later tonight.
There will be 100 families of soldiers deployed in Iraq in attendance, special guests of the US Army and Gold Country Limousines. Additonally, opening ceremonies will feature the color guard, a live national anthem performed by area vocalist Shawna Grenade and a military floyover has been tentantatively scheduled upon completion of the anthem, weather and smoke conditions pending.
Prior to the event there will be a number of car displays throughout El Dorado County during the day:
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. race fans can meet sprint car drivers Andy Gregg and Alissa Geving and see their cars in front of Food 4 Less in Cameron Park
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. stock car fans can visit with Pure Stock drivers Jared Vilt, Tom Tilford and defending champion Jason Englund in front of Belair Supermarkets in Cameron Park.
A select number of Placerville Speedway officials and cars will be featured in the Annual Fourth of July Parade in Pollock Pines which begins a noon !
