52 Year Old Danny Kirkpatrick Wins First Career Main

Alger, WA - Learned Commercial Little League Night was a huge success for Danny Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick scored the first main event win of his seven year career at the age of 52 years young in the Budweiser 360 class. Kirkpatrick started on the pole and led the initial lap with Cory Chamberlain hot on his tail. Chamberlain found room inside of Kirkpatrick on the subsequent lap in turn two and powered past Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick battled back, finding good grip on the bottom of the raceway as the handle went away on the Chamberlain car. Danny drove hard underneath Chamberlain going into turn three on the eighth lap and Chamberlain couldn't get enough forward bite in his 92.9fm #69 to hold off Danny. Aboard his Jet City Equipment #7k, Danny held off the remaining charges from Chamberlain and a hard charging Shane Broers in the Firedown Graphics #11 to score his first career win. Steve Kilcup was the quick time in the TCT #18. Heat race wins went to Mack Brown in the Birch Equipment #96x, Broers, and Alan Munn in the Munn Construction #42.
Kyle Oman would rather be good than lucky, but on this night, he sure didn't mind being on the lucky end. Devin Barnes led the first 11 laps of the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint main in his Ken's Redmond Autobody #22 with Kelsey Carpenter following closely in his Action Cleaning #79k. Barnes, a rookie in 2008, held off Carpenter until the race got into lapped traffic where Kelsey caught up. Disaster struck on lap 11, as Barnes moved high in lapped traffic and Carpenter went low. The lapped car did not handle being sandwiched by the two leaders, got squirrely, and got into both Barnes and Carpenter assisting in spinning out the two race leaders. Carpenter would rejoin the event but Barnes sustained too much damage to continue. This handed the lead to Kyle Oman, who piloted his Louis Auto Glass #6k to victory lane with no issues. The Sportsman Sprints timed in for the first time in 2008 and Kelsey Carpenter set a new track record at 13.705. Heat race wins went to Devin Madonia in the Snohomish Roofing #42 and Bill Rude in the Zip Tune #33.
The Wilson Auto Brokers Outlaw Hornets ran dual mains with a couple veterans scoring wins. Ken Higby won the first main event, passing Travis Meins on the second lap. The second main event went to Greg Hibma who led wire to wire. Both main event winners ended up finishing almost a half lap ahead of the second place finishers. Heat race winners were Marshall Corbell and Rick Young. Young took third in the first main and second in the second main. Karl Dahl took second in the first main. Travis Meins was third in the second main.
