For Immediate Release: Chico Volkswagen Night at The Races

Extra Money For Dirt Modified's on the Line

(Chico, CA 6-8-08)...With the generous help from Mark Abouzeid's Chico Volkswagen and John and Robbie Padjen there will be extra money up for grabs during this Friday night, June 13, Feather Falls Casino championship point race # 11 in the dirt modified division. A chance to become the Friday night winner should entice many drivers to make the drive to Chico on this special Friday night of racing. If the car count for the modified's is greater than 15 another $100 will be added to the winners pay day. “It's a chance to try and get more dirt modified's to race the race track,” said Abouzeid from his Chico Volkswagen office. Abouzeid is also helping sponsor the 410 sprint car races and once again the main event winner will earn $2,000. “It's the best of both world's for me,” said Abouzeid. “I love the winged sprint cars and I am going to race in the dirt modified's to try and win the extra money.” Abouzeid should know a thing or four about winning. He has won four main events this year at Silver Dollar Speedway this year.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. Adult general admission is $11.00. Seniors and Juniors are $9.00 and children are $5.00. The sprint cars will qualify followed by all three divisions racing heats and main events.

Four racing divisions will compete this Friday night, June 13, during Chico Volkswagen night located at 902 Main Street in downtown Chico. The show room is state of the art and features an amazing display of beautiful new and used cars. Chico Volkswagen understands what you drive and they are located on the Internet at www.chicovolkswagen.com. The 410 sprints, dirt modified's, wingless sprints and dwarf cars are all set to compete.

Oroville's Sean Becker won his second main event of the year during the 410 sprint car season at Chico. It is a testament to his devoted racing family who helps field and maintain the motor and bring in extra money to keep the Rod Fauver prepared #64 on the race track. “I have an amazing family,” said Becker after his win on Friday night. Becker should now know what it is like to be a family man. A few weeks ago him and his wife Lisa welcomed in their first child, a baby girl named Allison Rae. Since her arrival, Becker has won two of the four main events at Silver Dollar Speedway. Needless to say the family thinks she is a good luck charm. With the win Becker moved to within eight points of his championship rival Andy Forsberg of Auburn. Forsberg must feel fortunate just to survive on Friday night. He started deep in the field and most of the race struggled to race into the top ten. However, numerous cautions and problems allowed Forsberg to sneak into the top ten and actually finish seventh. It's the type of night that championships can be won or lost on.

Chico's Richard Papenhausen is still the championship driver to beat. Last year's champ is only one of three drivers to make all four starts this year. The other two, Darin Ruley and Eddie Lewis, both of Chico, currently sit second and third in points. Yet, the driver of the year so far is Abouzeid. He started the year off by winning both nights of the Silver Cup. In only two starts on the Friday night series, he has won both of them. I'm no math wizard, but as of now, he is currently perfect, in the zone, 4 for 4. Can anyone step up and beat the “Rocket Man”? We as fans will just have to wait and see this Friday night.
