Saturday night is Golden One Credit Union Night at Placerville Speedway
Financial institution is fifth nightly sponsorship donor of 2008 season
PLACERVILLE, CA – The Placerville and El Dorado Hills Branches of Golden One Credit Union will sponsor Championship Point Race # 8 this Saturday night, June 7th. The evening will be “Golden One Credit Union” Night at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds and will feature four divisions of auto racing in the final event prior to a week off to allow for the upcoming El Dorado County fair. Winged 360 sprint cars will headline the racing program Saturday night along with Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Nor-Cal Dwarf Cars.
Golden One Credit Union is one of several area businesses participating in Placerville Speedway’s “New Faces at the Races” nightly sponsorship program. On this designated night of competition, a $500 bonus will be presented to the winner of the winged sprint car feature event and some 100 associates and patrons of the Placerville and El Dorado Hills Branches of The Golden One Credit Union will be in attendance.

Entering Saturday’s event, Colby Wiesz of Colfax continues to lead the point standings in the Winged 360 sprint car division. As the hired driver for championship car owner John Taylor, Wiesz is amidst his strongest season of his racing career and sits an impressive 33-points ahead of Placerville’s own Scott Russell who too, has had a successful start to 2008. Former two time champion David Robinson Jr. o Foresthill is third in the standings while Placerville’s Jimmy Trulli holds the fourth position over Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights. So far this season, 49 different drivers have competed in the sprint car division at Placerville.
In the Pro Stock division, Dan Brown Jr. of NevadaCity leads the point standings with a 22-point advantage over Jeff Arbogast of Auburn. Placerville’s own Forryst Carnett sits in third place over Auburn’s Ray Trimble and Dennis Armstrong of El Dorado who rounds out the top five.
The Pure Stock division continues to be led by Brian Stevens of Pollock Pines. Stevens sits 16-points ahead of Rick Grunert of Woodland. Placerville’s lady racer Danielle Clauson maintains the third position, just 33-points from the leader while Jared Vilt of Cameron Park is fourth followed by Keith Fornier of Placerville.
Placerville Speedway’s grandstands will open at on Saturday. Representatives from the Golden One Credit Union will be on hand toconsult race fans and competitors who are interested in their financial services. Qualifying is set to begin at . Adult tickets will be $12, juniors and seniors $10, children $5 and under six years of age will be admitted for free.
