For Immediate Release: Two Nights of Racing This Weekend
Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial Concludes Busy Weekend
(Chico, CA 5-12-08)...One of the biggest weekends of racing is set for this weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. On Friday night, May 16, point race number eight during the Feather Falls Casino championship series will feature three divisions. The 410 sprints, wingless sprints and street stocks will race. The night is sponsored by Rod Fauver and Fauver Race Ready Rentals. With the additional help from Fauver the 410 sprints will race for $2, 000 to win.
Front grandstand gate will open at 5 pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 7 pm. Adult general admission is $11.00. Seniors and Juniors are $9.00 and children are $5.00. The sprint cars will qualify followed by all three divisions racing heats and main events.
On Saturday night, May 17, the highest paying one night show of the year for the traveling Golden State Challenge King of California Series takes place at Silver Dollar Speedway. The 18th Annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race will feature a large car count of 410 sprints aiming for the more than $20,000 in combined purse and awards up for grabs. The main event is a 40-lap contest with a guaranteed $4, 000 going to the winner. Also in the mix is individual lap money gathered by Dave and Dianne Durica. They have collected $100 per lap for the A main and B main events. If a driver leads a lap they earn $50.00, second on any lap is $30.00 and third on any lap is $20.00. With the help of the Durica's if a driver could lead every lap of the main event then they would pocket and extra $2,000. Last year Brent Kaeding led every lap and won the $6,000 victory.
The front gate will open at 5 pm on Saturday with adult grandstand tickets costing $16, juniors $11, and kids $5. Racing is slated to start at 7 pm.
This year Rod Fauver at times has helped field three sprint cars on a given night of racing at Silver Dollar Speedway. The last two years he has built up his business Fauver Race Ready Rentals into a successful venture. Not only can someone rent a sprint car but Fauver helps mentor and tutor the driver. This year he has joined with Sean Becker and Cherry St. Mini Storage to field a full-time car on the Friday night points chase. Currently the team is second in points trailing Andy Forsberg by a slim 19-points. Another car that Fauver has been helping race each Friday is Robbie Whitchurch. When Whitchurch's primary car was wrecked beyond repair they turned to Fauver and was able to race on of his cars. The Whitchurch's continue to use the Fauver rental and are currently seventh in points. The other driver seen on occasion is rookie driver Mark Haynes of Chico. Haynes has entered three races this year.
The Dave Bradway Jr. is like no other event during the Golden State Challenge King of California Series. Some drivers base their whole year around winning this event. The money and prizes for this race are ridiculous. The race pays $3,000 to win but once again John and Robbie Padjen are adding $1,000 for the win to make it $4,000. Plus the individual lap money adds to the top three at any given lap during the A main or B main. For the sixth consecutive year Hoserville, an internet based group of fans, will sponsor heat races. Each heat race winner will receive a right rear tire and five sleeves of tear offs. Each winner will also receive a free carbon fiber nose wing cap courtesy of Lee Watson and his Chico based Watson's Carbon Fiber company. Duane Davis of Laser Engraving from Marshalltown, Iowa is supplying trophies to the heat race winner plus an extra one to give to a fan in the crowd.
On Saturday May 17, the 410 sprint car qualifying will pay $1,200 for the driver who can get the quickest lap. This is an unprecedented amount of money for qualifying. It should add an amazing amount of drama to the racing. The sponsored money is from numerous great people. Scott Chastain of NMI Industrial Contractors and owner of the Tyler Walker #24 sprint car is adding $500. ManCamp Motorsports is offering $250. The Tatum family is adding an extra $300. Steve and Kim Tatum are adding a $100 each. Leanne Tatum of Element Hair Studio in Oroville is adding the other $100. Martin Garcia of Jack's Family Restaurant is adding $100. To make it an even $1200 Claude Whelchel Construction is putting in $50.00.
Dan Simpson of DES Inc. is adding a $500 bonus to the hard charge of the main event. Drivers starting near the rear of the field will now have an extra incentive to pass as many cars as possible.
Brand New Dave Bradway Jr. stickers designed by Yak Graphics will be available for the first time in recent years.
