We just got our camping info from Calistoga and the USAC race is scheduled for Labor Day weekend. No more back and forth, the race is on.

Do you think any NorCal Winged sprint teams will race at Stoga? The GSC and Civil War do not have races that weekend. The only real competition is the 360's local show at Placerville which might not matter as USAC/CRA runs 410's.
If you do have some local support, we may see over 40 cars!

I believe that there will be quite a few Nor-Cal cars at Stoga for this one. None of the So-Cal guys have ever been on this track. I would put my money on a Nor-Cal guy for sure. TK, Bud, Sweet, or Murphy just off the top of my head.

Tony Jones would be my favorite to win if the team elects to pull north for this one.

I hope they go, but they have only run Perris & Victorville so far this season. They have skipped both Manzy shows, & both Vegas shows. Stoga is a hell of a lot farther to tow than Manzy & Vegas. Maybe the tow money & lap money will help get those teams that are not traveling this season to come up to Stoga.

Thank you very much Gary Thomas for this update. Regarding Jones, my wife and I sponsor the Alexander team and Tony, and I have been constantly lobbying the brothers to make the tow north for this great race. As Oakhurst states with the additional tow money, additional sponsorship money from us and their friendship with Steve Howard I expect the boys to make the trip up north. Tony knows no fear, but I may have to agree with Oakhurst that the Norcal drivers should be the favorites at a track they have run many times. Hope the wingers take them off for this traditional race and tribute to Lou Vermeil. Thanks to USAC's Kevin Miller for his recent involvement and help getting this show off the ground. Also thanks to Steve Howard for his hard work.

This will be AWSOME! I wonder if the Demon will make a return visit? The midgets should be an excellent race as well. I will go out on a limb and take Evan Suggs to claim his 1st Nor-Cal victory, that is if he hasn't won 5 or 6 races by then!!! Like Gary always says, we look forward to the Stoga events!!!

I have my fingers crossed the Alexendar team will come north for the novelty of the deal, if not for the tow money. Although Calistoga 'aint the same track as Manzy, Tony has run well at the big 1/2 in PHX, and I think that would translate well to Calistoga. Ragardless, I can't wait for this one! Its been a long time since we've seen traditional sprints at 'stoga. Ahhhh...those great memories of Gurney, the dragon fron Galt, RC, Preacher, Hank Butcher, etc...Lets rock & roll!!!

I for one can not wait for this show............No-Cal vs. So-Cal with the possibility of a few national guys should be some field. Even if the national boys are in local cars. It would almost be a Northern California version of the Oval's! Maybe somebody should introduce one Daron Clayton to Dennis Roth and his 83jr for this race???? That guy at Stoga would be a sight.

Its great to be talking about racing now and not worrying about if the race will be a reality. :)

I believe a lot of the national midget teams will be up in Winconsin for the Fireman Nationals @ Sun Prairie for the 15k to win. Its the saturday of labor day. But that wont stop the national sprint guys from coming.. Doubt u will c sweet, levi, darland, coons, bacon, on the left coast...or the demon..

From what I have read in Bobby Gerould's Hammer Down Sweet has indicated he will be @ Calistoga.

Like chuck said, with 15K on the line at the Prairie i doubt that you will see many National guys at Stoga. There is also a 3K to win sprint car show @ Haubstadt that night, which is slightly closer to Indy than Stoga is LOL. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to see a bunch of National guys at Stoga, but i'll believe it when i see it.

Just got off the phone with the fairgrounds and the lady I spoke with said the race in still up in the air as they have sent a contract to USAC, but have yet to receive it back with signitures. I was inquiring about the RV park for that weekend and she directed me to the website were I noticed it was listed on the shedule of events. I'll be checking back weekly with the fairgrounds.
