Weather Shuffles Diamond Schedule, Creates Northwoods Speedweek!
Hibbing, MN 5/13/26 by DarinShort.com. A very wet and cool start to springtime in the arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota is delaying the start of the PIRTEK Diamond Sprint Car Series resulting in a reshuffle of the schedule.
The Diamond portion of the Memorial Day events scheduled at The Grand Rapids Speedway and Hibbing Speedway have been moved to this summer – when more suitable weather and predictable track conditions should prevail.
The biproduct of this change has also created something new: The PIRTEK Diamond Sprint Car Series Northwoods Speedweek!
The Hibbing Speedway date has been moved to Wednesday, August 5th, while The Grand Rapids Speedway event will be held Thursday, August 6th.
Those two events now piggyback existing Gondik Law Speedway (August 7th) and ABC Raceway (August 8th) dates, thus creating the Diamond Sprint Car Series Northwoods Speedweek!
All four events will consist of the winged division of the Diamond Sprint Car Series, while the accompanying nonwinged (traditional) division will be UMSS Renegades series.
The Diamond Sprint Car Series features some of the best sprint car teams in the upper Midwest, and they will be competing in complete racing programs of heat races and features each night.
The series also invites racing fans to arrive early each night to take in Fan Fest (it’s free). This will allow fans to meet the drivers, check out team merchandise and get an up close and personal look at the cars they will see racing that night – not to mention great opportunities for selfies and pictures with the drivers!
