Seems to me that would be the perfect time for the double box. Leader in one box, the best battle in the other box.

Double box makes the most sense but Gibby was asked this in a Knoxville fan forum one year and he said the DV mandate is to show the winner of the race crossing the checkered flag. He said it was something of an industry standard and they weren't going to change.

I would be perplexed if they showed anything but the winner of the race taking the checkers-- with the exception of heats and mains where the transfer is the most important spot.
