I've always appreciated how quickly drivers come to a stop. Two questions, why do drivers stop anywhere near the rollover? Seems better to give space to emergency crews. Also, I know these cars aren't turbo diesels, but does a hot shut off do any damage to these engines? Is there a good way and bad way to shut them down from full throttle?

We get yelled at pretty hard to come to an immediate stop.  I've been penalized for riding by a crash even though I was just trying to get away from a crash to get first responders more room.

Depending on how hot my motor is determines if I shut off my motor quick or not.

I guess if nobody is moving nobody has to watch for safety.  Easy enough to move you if they need.

It seemed like the wrecks this year were more serious, at least in terms of car damage.  That and several of the wrecks were on the end-over-end variety which seems like it might be more dangerous for the drivers.  Anyone else have a thought on that?

Drivers are told to stop as soon as safely possible.  They are told "do not roll past the scene of an accident!" For the safety of the safety crews, so they can get to a driver to see and offer assistance if needed.
