Regarding last night's post-tech inspection at Eldora, and the result, this rule is nowhere near 'new news' to anyone that races sprint cars or techs them.

Direct excerpts on this topic:

2025 ASCS rules:  iv. Maximum distance from the Center Foil front edge to the front edge of the front axle may not exceed 20 inches.

2025 WoO Rules:  d. The maximum distance from the Center Foil front edge to the front edge of the front axle may not exceed 20 inches.

2025 HL Rules: iv. The maximum distance from the center foil front edge to the front edge of the front axle may not exceed 20 inches.

These three sanctioning bodies rules on this topic literally couldn't be any more identically stated than they are.

Teams know all about this rule - and have for years...WoO, HL, ASCS... and if teams don't like a certain rule, talk to your sanctioning body about why you think this rule, or any rule you don't agree with should be tweaked or removed.

Looking back, here's a NCRA PR from 2011 regarding a DQ from the front nose wing being too far forward: https://www.myracepass.com/tracks/1764/news/2011/article/8115/post-race-inspection-is-redemption-for-dover-in-ncra-sprints

And here's another from 2011 in ASCS for the same (3rd heat winner DQ): https://tjslideways.com/2011/04/16/jeff-swindell-flies-ford-power-to-lucas-oil-ascs-victory-lane-at-i-30/

It sucks when anyone busts their hump and gets DQ'd, but these rules are in place for a reason.

I remember once we had a driver that drove through the field and got themselves into a post-race tech finishing position and his wing angle was way more than allowed. He got DQ'd. The driver even said: "I didn't even worry about it because I didn't think I would finish anywhere near where I did." Well, he drove his butt off, but his car wasn't legal to what the other teams were adhering to.  :)

Legit question, why is there even a rule about how far your front wing can stick past the front axle?

Murphy - the most general reason is that if you pop someone in the tail it can knock your nose wing off, cause a potential caution; etc.

So, back when the rule was created 15 or whatever years ago, that seemed to be the 'safe' number to minimize that situation from happening. So they put a rule to it.

Dont cheat! That is the bottom line!  I bet he was running it that way most of the year.  The woo probably just turned their heads.  Don't feel sorry for someone who pushes the the limit and gets DQ'd.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Rico - 9 wins
Donny - 0 wins That is right the big fat zero!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I agree. Don't cheat. Don't have your car's dimensions out of the legal norm. Don't skip the scale. Don't get out of your car during a stop in the race.
