Silver Dollar Speedway cancelled tonight's leg of the annual Dirt Cup at Skagit early this afternoon.  Slim possibility of thunderstorms after 6 p.m. but the real reason is lack of tires.  It's no different in the West than other parts of the country with the supply, or lack of, supply, of tires.  It's more than time to allow everyone to run what they've got, brand name be damned..  Understand a couple of Pennsy tracks have already done this or are about to.

Friend of ours' who races both with NARC and our touring Pro Stock series was planning on making his first run of this season with Chico's show tonight but couldn't find a single tire anywhere he called so decided to take his wife to a concert tonight instead.  She's happy but him not so much.  His Pro Stock is likely done for the season after grenading a very good engine at Bakersfield last weekend.

Our Pro Stocks are struggling to find competitive tires too.  Hoosier has dropped the Dirt Bozz which was arguably the best tire in the series and though we bought about every one we could find when the writing was on the wall we certainly don't have enough for the season.  Our group is very open on the series tires and there's everything from asphalt take-offs to G60 IMCA tires to any 10" wide dirt tire 55 durometer or worse.  Even withat it's tough to find something that's competitive.

Add in the  Sunoco 110 gas up to $12 a gallon, California's horrendous gas for the big block truck above $6.60 or diesel  $7+, a schedule that has us about every other week with a 5-700 tow and this hobby is about as much fun this season as getting kicked in the groin by an ostrich...over and over and...
