Sad news that I learned of this morning.   Kinda surprised this hasn't gotten any attention here...

Yep, that's the sense of humor he was known for.

It's crazy he had all those incidents both on & off track which laid him up but he survived. Also strange that he went out in a similar fashion as his good buddy Stan Fox.

Never had the privilege to see him race live but heard many interviews and read his columns.  RIP sir and condolences to your family.  If you are so inclined, it sounds like the Olsons could use our prayers and well-wishes at this time, especially Mrs. Olson.

Its sad & ironic that this happened to a guy who always joked about his love of da booze.... :(

I gave you the info on the cause. I didn't assume anything. Kevin flew back to Madison with my brother and a friend on a private jet after the Chili Bowl so my information is good.

Some of us on Hoseheads actually know people and the sport. Unfortunately we are getting to be less and less active on here because there are more people that don't know anything and want to argue and create a pissing contest about everything.

This day and age (though 20 years ago I would've agreed with you) I would not say or assume an accident at any time or any place was caused by alcohol.  I only say this because I think there are more distracted drivers (playing on their phone on the road?).  I'm not going to say I don't ever text and drive but if I see a car, I'm not touching my cell phone.  Anytime am driving on a 2 lane road and look to see how many people are looking out of their windshield, typically 1/3-1/2 of the people I meet are looking down or somewhere else.  My only point is I wouldn't assume it's alcohol.

That or they recently got vax'd.  I've seen it with my own eyes

Chill the hell out guys!   Whether or not it was a drunk driver does not make this more or less of a tragedy.
