Pennsylvania Bans Sale Of Alcohol At Bars, Restaurants Ahead Of Thanksgiving

The ban will start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and last through Thursday morning

The administration of Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday that alcohol will be barred from being sold at restaurants and bars in Pennsylvania from Wednesday evening until Thanksgiving morning — an apparent edict intended to “slow the spread” of the China-originated novel coronavirus.

“On Wednesday, Nov. 25, restaurants and bars are ordered to suspend alcohol sales at 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26,”

That probably just means the liquor stores will be crowded instead.  

Ohio is not that far behind as the adminstration of Republican Gov Mike Dewine announced a couple weeks ago a curfew on alcohol sales in bars & resturants with them having to stop the sale of alochol at 10pm and I believe bars close at 11pm.

I think this started last Monday as the latest hospital report showed that 3648 Ohioans were int he Hospital with Covid-19, 897 in ICU, and 441 on ventilators. A lot of areas were reporting capacity of their hospital between 65-80+% full.

Our Governor is an idiot. That fifteen hours will really curb the infection rate. No other reason for this for one day other than to throw his weight around. Like there is going to be a major Thanksgiving celebration at the bars the night before.

Don't worry. All the idiots out there will vote them in again.

what amazes me is you people were able to have a sprint car season like nothing happened...but are still finding things to complain about.  it's because wolf let you get away with whatever you wanted over the summer that we're still in this mess.

did you go to college...or leave your hometown?  the night before thanksgiving is usually one of the biggest party nights of the year.  everybody is back home and wants to hang out.  it only takes 15 minutes to consider yourself exposed so...yes...fifteen hours can certainly impact the infection rate.

Come to my state, where my brother and I can't meet at the parents' house for Thanksgiving, but we can meet them at Walmart with 10,000 Walmartians.  Sorry PA people, but your rulemakers might make less sense than mine.

covid is not a dem or repub thing.  The trouble with bars is that you go in for a beer or two and then 5 hrs later you are still there.  If someone is in there with  covid after 4 hrs you will maybe have it also.  Then you drag it home.

Are you being facetious? Just like Carp said, Thanksgiving Eve is second only to New Years Eve in the bars. It's a giant homecoming of sorts for those in, and fresh out of college. I've since moved on from that crowd, but you definitely need a shoehorn to get around those places on that night.

Funny thing is the bars and clubs around my area of PA have already figured out a way to stick this deal right back in Wolf's azz and I it is perfectly legal and not a damn thing his Gestapo can do about it!! Wolf and his little lap dog Levine have been punked at their own game!! LMAO!!
