Just received Speedway Illustrated today and there was a short article about Bubby Jones and he spent some time in this car. Read about it in Speed Sport but was before my time as far as actually seeing this car race.
Did they use Ford engines in this car? A la Casey Luna car 10+ years later?

Looking back through many Bruce Cogle Ford sponsored cars, even back in the mid 70s they were small block Chevys.
I am sure someone had an actual Ford powerplant in one, but from what I have read he was just a great sponsor who loved sprint car racing and seemed not to care what was under the hood.

I,ll have to admit to being old enough to have actually seen Bubby run the 44 car and it was chevy powered.
At one point Bubby traveled with two cars of different configurations to be used depending on track configuration and condition.
The cars were owned by a M A Brown and over the years had several good shoes in the seat. Along with Bubby, Chuck Amati and, I think, Sammy Swindell were among Brown.s drivers
