This July, 82 Speedway owner Tracy Peters received the call that no one ever wants to have - someone on the other end of the phone telling you that your father passed away.
Paul "Patsy" Peters was a long-time fixture at many area tracks with several different race car drivers that he helped.
In the days following his passing, Tracy had called me to say that he wanted me to package a huge throw-down racing event at 82 Speedway in Paul's honor, scheduled for Paul's birth date, which is October 12.
The event will essentially be a quad-header, as each of the four divisions are featured as a headlining division.
Details of the event will be posted in the days to come, but for now, here's the top-line event information set for the Paul Peters Memorial at 82 Speedway on Saturday, October 12th at 6pm:
- Sprint Car Bandits series - $2,000 to win and $300 to start
- TOMS - Touring Outlaw Modified Series - $2,000 to win & $225 to start
- Factory Stocks - $1,200 to win & $100 to start
- Limited Modifieds - $1,200 to win & $100 to start
Adult grandstand tickets for this massive event will be $20 (adults), while pit passes will be $35. The pits will open by 2pm, with the grandstands opening by 4:30pm.
It has been a long time since a premier Sprint Car and Modified touring series have both been on the same racing card on the same night in these parts...not to mention a jumbo-sized payday for the Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds, so it's definitely going to be fitting for someone that possessed such a large personality Paul Peters did.
