As most drivers now are driving for family teams and have 40 plus hour weeks to pay for the racing that means that being at the track till 2am and then tow home is not an appealing idea. Now if you feel that is unsafe then it is what it is. Seeing top notch racers get injured or killed shows us all how dangerous this sport is and your life is worth more than any prize. Jmo

Everyone left last year at Butler, not just the Ohio guys. The Ohio guys were just the ones who decided enough was enough, when everyone knew it was not going to happen.

As for the others, each driver/ team has to do what they feel is best. There is simply too much money involed, and even a persons well being to be playing games. If a drivers mind is not in the correct place, because of track conditions, and they decide to leave, it sounds like they made the correct decision.

Sometimes others things happen. I saw a team leave one night because their 6 year old daughter had an accident at home with the baby sitter. Turned out to be minor, but if your mind is not on the track, it may be best to sit that night out.

It takes enough bravery to wheel these monsters under ideal conditions.
