Looked through the results and qualifying last night and when I saw Sye Lynch, I realized there was no Ed Lynch.

Ed was a gasser - he could run with the big dogs and wasn't afraid of traveling.

I guess I missed the retirement.

Another name to add to the 'just ain't the same without him' list.

Agree, the Apollo Rocket just rode quietly into the sunset. Ed was a real talent and very fan friendly.

On a separate note, anyone know why the Lernerville point leader was a no show last night?

That does suck... Her always had nice looking cars and he was a real gasser.  I met his Mom and had lunch with her at Knoxville about 3 years ago, Also a very good person and contributer to our sport (I believe she is in the NSCHoF) as well Ed Lynch should be some day if not already.

I think Jack was out of town for work the days before yesterday and made it back to spectate the Silver Cup, but maybe didn't have time to prepare with maintenance, etc.  Just a guess.

As far as locals go, Carl Bowser railed the cushion in the B to make the A Main (only local to race into the A).  That was a good piece of driving.

I was told that there was a significance to his fluorescent-over-black paint scheme but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Anybody?

Wonder if you are referring to the time Brad Sweet tried to slide him at Eldora few years ago going through 1 @ 2 and failed miserably to clear him?

Ed Lynch was a special guy.  His Mother Jean Lynch  has always been the leading lady in the sport, Love her!  I got to know Ed and Father Ed almost 20 years ago when my booth at the Fremont Racers Flea Market was next to them, some of the nicest people in the sport.  Ed even won the Don Martin Memorial a few years back, may have been his biggest win ever.  One thing he also did was Win in the business world as he was very smart and very successful, and that bad limp he has came from an almost life threatening car accident not a sprint car crash.  Cheers to the whole family, I am a better person for having known them....

Well that settles it, I guess he was a crasher!!!   I will re-evaluate my thinking on his entire career based on that one mistake in the '89 Royal!!  Forget about his 100 plus checkers at Lernerville, his Silver Cup win, the All-Star wins and the many more wins at various tracks.

Kinda the Kenny Schrader when it came to Eldora. If it wasn't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all.

When Sweet did that slider was it the crash that collected SaldanaSaldananna while having his banner year ?

Yup, same crash. Joey was in the Red Bull car at the time.

I'm not so sure it was the same crash.  I thought Joey's crash was on the back stretch.  I could be wrong though, but I am pretty sure it was the same race.

Anyway, hat's off to Ed on a great career.  His total feature wins at Lernerville would have been many more, but he chose to travel quite a bit instead of chasing points and championships.  I have always enjoyed watching him race and especially talking with him the few times I went into the pits.  My only regret is I did not contact him soon enough to get a side panel, wing or anything for my racing room.  It will just not be complete without something from the Apollo Rocket.

Saldana just clipped 1 of them & ended up backwards against the wall in turn 2.

Is somebody jealous, lol.  Dude, you only wish you lived my sprint car life and as real life goes it would likely make you even more jealous, go back to asking 'would you like fries with that?'......
