I was always a big fan of Jack Belk from Joplin. In 1965, I moved from Topeka to Lincoln, NE and watched sprints and super-modifieds up there. While in Lincoln, I heard that Jack was fatally injured in a non-wing sprint at my former weekly track there in Topeka. Does anyone remember what happened? Did he get hit in the rollcage by another car? Did he get tangled up in the fence? I have always wondered about that. Hard to believe it was 45 years ago when that happened (1971).

Report was that he was on the track alone and they think something broke causing the accident.  His 2 boys still live in Joplin. Randy raced a modified for years. Tim used to read and post here sometimes under Red Bandana, if my feeble mind is correct.
