Brandon Wimmer – Second at Atomic Sets Up All Star Showdown!

(Bill W) April 20, 2016 – A late slider attempt in the last corner fell just short for Brandon Wimmer last Saturday night at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio.  The Fairmount, Indiana driver would settle for second in the John Shewbrooks #A67.  The team will be back at Atomic on April 30 when the All Star Circuit of Champions invades the high-banked 3/8-mile oval.

Brandon would set down quick time last Saturday night at 11.993 seconds.  “John has a really good motor,” he says.  “I’ve run a lot of laps around Atomic and I feel really comfortable there as well.”

After starting fourth in his heat and motoring to a second place finish, he would start outside row two for the main event.  “I feel like we had the best car,” says Brandon.  “We were able to get up to second the first four or five laps.  I was able to catch the leader (Dallas Hewitt) when traffic came.  It was one of those deals where I couldn’t do much with him in open air, but we were better in traffic.”

Unfortunately, the yellow flag would fly.  “We had a caution about halfway through,” says Brandon.  “It took a while to get back into traffic.  On the last lap, I took a slider in turn three and didn’t quite make it.”

The second place finish was a good outing for Brandon and the team and good preparation for the All Stars a week from Saturday.  “It was a good night,” he says.  “We tested the new W18 right rear for the first time.  The car was working really well.  We’re looking forward to when the All Stars come there on April 30.”

Brandon would like to thank his own long-term partners Simpson Racing Products, Butlerbuilt Professional Seat Systems and All Star Performance.
