Looking at the 3 cars reminds me of how much trouble it was to load and unload all 3. Most of the time we had some help bur some of the races it was just Norman and me and man that keep you busy. At Tulsa there was always somebody to help but out of town it was different. At Dewey in June of 1975 it was just Norman me and the drivers and it was hot. Courtney Grandstaff drove the 17 that day and Mike and Gene were in there cars. All 3 made the feature, I just went from car to car to gas them up then gears then tires. During the feature Mike's car was missing and the 17 threw a fan belt. There was a red flag and all 3 came on the back straight wanting something.. Norman started on the 17 trying to a fan belt on it I went to Mike and tried to help him, Jon Kalb came with a new drag tire and told me to put it on Gene's car he was geared to low. I grabbed Eldon Harp and had him help with the tire change, he had never used a wheel with a knock off so he used the jack and I put the wheel on then changed gears on Mike's car,I never noticed how hot the grease was we were so busy. Gene won the race in the 117 so Jon was right about the gears, but then we had to load everything and that was a lot of work with all the tires ,gears, tools, etc. I got pretty fast at loading and unloading and I Will brag on my self ,I think back then I could change gears or tires faster that anybody, I had too we had to get 3 cars ready. I will tell the story abut just Norman and I in Fayetteville AR some other day

When the rig showed up here at Lawton I thought to myself "Now ain't that a wonderment!" I just had to take some photos of the rig. This is one of the photos I took that day. It was originally a slide but I had it converted into a print.

I am so glad that you took the pictures. Norman had that trailer and used it to haul forms until he passed away in 2006. He And I talked about it one day and wondered how many miles it had been towed.

Thanks again

Ray
