Sammy would be a big draw for the NSL. I think he'd enjoy the reduced schedule and it makes great sense business-wise to be able to use his name in advertising. His coming back may not be true, I thought he wouldn't run sprints anymore but I hope he comes back. I've been a huge fan of his since he first starting coming to Haubstadt on Sunday nights before there ever was a WoO. I also believe at his age he'll be a lot sharper in the car and not so road weary staying in the midwest. That full-time Outlaw deal is really for a younger crowd. I'm in for Volusia so I really hope he's in Florida.

The date was on the schedule for 2015 as a mistake from last year's schedule.  It has since been removed.

Obviosuly Big Game would give him a ride again for the NSL tour.

Tree Stand guy said I have all of Sammys stuff , I have not sold anything,  I do not know what Sammys plans are.  This sort of says if Sammy wants to race some we have the things he needs.

Lets all hope he decides to run some races next year. It would be great for the sport. He is still capable of winning everytime out. I think he would be much sharper if he races occasionally. A true Outlaw!! Go Sammy!

The series will be as tough as WOO and pay more.It would make sense to get Sammy and possibly Steve on occasion that leaves Schatz in  a league of his own which he is anyway.

I am hearing that Sammy Swindell is talking of "un" retiring and racing sprints in 2015.  I guess he is the Brett Favre of sprint cars.

Where did you hear this?

Anybody know what Steve and Sammy said at the banquet?  I heard they had a nice chat and a picture taken together at the Charlotte track but I haven't read anything else. They would both put fannies in the seats wherever they run. They really don't have to win anymore, just be competitive as many, many people take a certain comfort in just having them on the track. They've both meant and mean that much to the sport and bring a personality to it. So many drivers are introverts and these guys wear their feelings on their sleeves. Sammy's pretty quiet but says a lot even when he's not talking. Just watch him.

Sammy did not attend the 2014 WoO Banquet...

Sammy may be getting a big laugh if he bothers to read any of this stuff on here but one thing I believe most of us would agree on is that he will get a fantastic reception from the fans if he does come back. Love him or not we never got to say goodbye properly and that just doesn't sit right with me after watching him and cheering for him for 40 years. Yes, I have always been a huge Sammy fan. He came to race pretty regular at Haubstadt in the mid '70's, we're about the same age and I just loved his "take no prisoners" style of driving. If I had been paying the bills I might not have been such a fan but I was in the stands drinking beer and thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm sure he'll only come back if he's comfortable doing it. It sure as heck won't be for the money.

I believe Sammy may have been in Charlotte (Kevin does live there), but I never read anything that said Sammy attended the banquet, just that Steve and Sammy spoke that weekend and they got a picture taken together (per Steve).

Couldn't resist... most entertaining unfounded rumor of The Silly Season!

I've seen reports on the Internet of a group of True Believers in California are convinced that Opperman will be coming back, soon after Good Friday.....
