Hell, lets just do three quartes on NFL, do one half on NBA, hell let us cut everything down in event size.  WRONG.  Myself, I dont think it makes one bit of difference, on the outcome of the event.  I can take or leave the 50 laps, but would everyone just like it to be 75 laps in Nascar?   The Bottom line, it is still the best entertainment for the buck.  I agree with both sides of this discussion, but with fuel only, who ever wins, has to drive it up front and I think we seen in an earlier post the last four years, the winner has not been on the front row.....I think the thousands of fans there agree, they want to get their dollars worth and see someone come from deep in the field.   I know they probably get tired of the same guy winning the big events, but I think Schatz proved the last couple years, he is the real deal, regardless of your view on his racing team or not.   I can remember what my good friend and one of the best Sprint Car Races in my time quoted one day back when he Wolfie was winning all the races with Legendary Bob Weikert, " When they boo you, your know your doing well, when they stop booing you, your not winning races"  by Doug Wolfgang.

It is a very good  discussion though, and like I said, I agree with both sides, but for what its worth, it is still the Grandaddy of them all, Knoxville Natls is the biggest sprint car purse in the whole world for four days in heaven...AMEN lets go racing.

Why not make it 10 laps that way theres no stops and you could make it home for late supper.  Jesus,  National Championship on the line and you clowns want to make it 30 laps or less.  What a joke.  Next thing youll want is daytona and indy to run 50 laps cause your "ADD" wont allow you to sit through anything longer.  East coasters swear by there "big tracks" yet cry and whine for less laps and shorter run races.  God forbid we dream of 100 lap mains like years gone by,  the majority of you guys wouldn't be able to handle that and god only knows what you tread then.  Do us on the west coast a favor and stay home and dont bitch about our 40 lap mains at Gold Cup and Tropy Cup.  We like laps and racing and we will leave the early departures and beer guzzling to you east coasters.  Funny thing is most of your tracks have NO CURFEW and we have a 11:00pm hard curfews, we want laps and you want to cut laps.  GO FIGURE!!!!!!

Huh? We have lots of longer races on the big tracks out east. The Tuscarora 50 is 50 laps as is the dream race at Port Royal. The WG Natty is 40 laps and the Selinsgrove Nace Memorial is 44. Our regular features on 1/2 mile tracks are 25 laps compared to what? 20 lap features @ Knoxville? No one I know of whines about longer races. That seems to be a midwest thing.

I don't understand the whining myself. If you can't take 50 laps, you can always get up and leave whenever you feel you've got your moneys worth.

Well ,  its   great  to see   all  the responses  ,  opinions and  I  agree  with most  of them  . But   I would   really like to see  bigger   fuel cells or tanks like  the old days   but that won't   happen   because   of   WRG  , DRIVERS , AND WEIGHT  OF   CARS  . I   like   longer   races  as   well ,  but  I don't   like   the fuel stops  , taking  on new tires   and adjusting  cars  . Wishful thinking   but   I ' d love  to see   a   non-stop  race   or  with  a  few cautions ? but  again  no actual  pit stops . These   are  SPRINT  CARS  NOT  NASCAR , which  are built   to sprint  or   go shorter  distances   !!!!  Years   ago  it was common   for  the  super   sprints  , 30x 90  bugs or  home made  creations   go 100 laps  with pit stops , but not  today .

A question for you, Have you ever tried setting a car up with a bigger tank on it for one night only?

Now, I bet a race like the Little 500 would absolutely drive you nuts........500 laps, fuel stops during the race under green. Damn, you probably couldn't handle something like that............................
