It is good that Hawker is taking the time to explain the rules of one of the best racing series in the world. What I am most impressed about is the technology that goes into making these cars what they are. I am so intreged by their 3 second pit stops - 4 tires/fuel - and go. NASCAR drives me nuts with their jack man/lug nuts for the sake of them keeping the cars "stock". I long for the day when NASCAR puts airjacks on the cars(no jackman) and single hub nuts on each wheel replacing the lug nut circus. They are about the only major racing series left in the world doing the lug nut routine. DTM and Aussie V8's have long had the air jacks and so forth. NASCAR drivers can't seem to be able to put their car in the same exact spot in the pit each time like the F1 drivers do. Sliding here, at an angle whereever, they must be hell in the city.
I talked to the Honda engr a while back and he said the reason why the F1 engine can turn 18K rpms is becuz everything in the engine is Titanium which means nearly no weight in motion.
NASCAR is nothing but follow the leader as they have everyone all choked down with their silly restrictor plates and so forth.
