WingDance, very well put. I totally agree with you that if these forum goers got in a sprint car and put the medal to the metal, they would need some new underpants afterwords. And it is a shame to continually see driver's lose there rides due to wrecks. What's it been? 4 or 5 now? Vandervere, Bartz, Sexton, Nimee, Sivia just to name a few. And if Balog didn't have 4 extra cars you'd add his name to the list aswell. Plus Kristan had some motor issues. There goes most of the backbone of the IRA. These guys put every nickel they have into the sport, just to do what they love most.
And Old Race Fan, I am not trying to go against your word, but for the love of pete's sake, please spell the driver's name right. It's BALOG not BAYLOG. (Sorry, just one of my pet peeves.)
And yes StrangeWings... There are 3 really good driver's who could probably go a lot further than the IRA. But there is a reason they choose not to. Ever think of that? Balog does have enough talent to go on and probably be a winner at weekly Knoxville races. But when he's winning the purse nearly every weekend there really isn't a reason to leave. If these driver's are so good, they shouldn't have any problem working around lapped traffic.
As for the wreck, it seemed that Kertscher just moved up into Bartz line and made contact. It seemed that the 80k tried to get bite on the lower line but just couldn't. Terrible wreck. In the laps before when Kertscher got the lead from Uttech, Kertscher was rubbing tires with the 68. Can't say that this was intentional, but the 80k was driving like a wild man to keep that lead.

You're ass has some hillbilly in it. Don't comment on anything other than that type of stuff, cuz that's all you know.
The real problem here and almost all "hub" IRA shows, is that there are 3 good cars and drivers and 27 slow ones who shouldn't be racing 410 sprint cars. How many times at these "local" IRA shows in the last 5 or 6 years has a very fast leader or charger get caught up by a very slow car? Probably why fewer and fewer "travelers" or "outlaws" are showing up to these local shows. That sucks for us but I can't blame them.
The comment about the IRA needing Kertcher more than he needs them is pretty accurate. I'm pretty much done going to these local shows unless it's a Friday Dodge show.

HA! I don't know how the racing community will handle not seeing you! If you could just be done with hoseheads the world would be a better place.

It was a shit post and you made it worse. He said any type of race car,not sprint car like you got on. Those guys are the backbone? Maybe that's the problem right there. Thanks for solidifying my comments.
Baylog is wasting his time. He's not helping himself at all. Doesn't matter how good the 3 or whatever are. Running against slow, inferior drivers each week is recipe for disaster. Remember when Sammy ran into the back of a push-off truck a few years back?

How in god's great name is Balog just wasting his time. He wins just about everything. He has his racing life by the ass. The only time he doesn't finish a race is when Kertscher makes sure he doesn't. The guy could go on a finish 4th, 5th, or 6th nightly somewhere else. But he stays because he's the best in the area. Nothing like victory lane nearly everyweek. Oh yeah, can you tell me the last time Balog lost a race to lapped traffic. Please, go ahead.

Balog is good but has needlessly taken himself and others out a few times this year.

The ONLY thing that should be getting discussed here is that the car made it THROUGH the fence. Everything else is just your typical bullshit.
|
Exactly! That car folded the fence over like it was tinfoil and old coat hangers for poles, I've never seen a car take a fence down like that around my area, too many cables and large poles/beams in catch fences to do that, seems dangerous to me for the fans.

Really cause Balog seen the 4B as he was flipping at Beaver dam and decided to hit him? come on. And 141 he intended to hit the 4B after the 80k hit him. Both times the 4B should of been able to avoid him maybe he should look up and not at the front wing. If anything Balog should be mad at the 4B. Now the 17B has driven over some lapped cars like the 4K and 3 of scott young but doubt they were intentional either.

Are you serious? Baylog is young, talented and has good equipment. How satisfying can it be to go beat the same mediocre field every week? Winning this series is gonna get you nowhere. I told Travis Whitney back in '06 that if he ran the whole series, he'd win the championship. He replied,"What's that gonna get me"? And that was when the IRA wasn't nearly as week as it is now.

A few things to consider. It takes money to travel, and the bigger purses a outlaw or knoxville weekly show may offer is offset by travel costs, and bigger budgeted teams to compete against. Balog is making more money doing what he's doing than if he traveled more. I think he'd have to run top 6 or 7 with outlaws to make what he is. As for him and the 4b, yes involved with it twice this year and both times 4b was collected and never part of the initial wreck, once courtesy of 80 at 141, other after 17 was crashing on his own as 17 didn't hit the 4b prior to being bounced or bouncing off the way on his own. 17 has obviously passed more cars the past few years than anyone else so I'm sure there has been contact in a few instances though no comparison to what we watched in this video post. A few things I think were missed is that most of the shows this year have been well worth my price of admission, and it appears the fans and cars are still supportive. Also I think the stock car earlier referred was on pavement so tough comparison, and in looking at results he was not last. Many in the series have stepped up their game and deserve credit. 80 didn't punt 46 on purpose, but fact is he did punt him.

Is this great or what? This is what I love about racing. No other sport has more passionate fans. We got people getting pissed off, arguing over who has a bigger set, what driver could drive what.... Even correcting the spelling of their favorite driver names. You guys are the backbone of the sport!
