Not sure where you get your info on Trump and taxes but you might want to consider getting it somewhere else, because you're wrong.   Trump's tax return from 2005 was leaked and shows he paid $38 million on income of around $150,000.   He does have the ability to write some things off if he loses a bunch of money, but in the real estate business anyone would do that.

I'm no more critical of Trump than I am most politicians, regardless of party. But.....I don't put much stock in two pages of "leaked" tax returns of Trump's that just happened to end up in someone's mail box. Anyway, I wasn't trying to be political....Sarcastic humor is more like it. Didn't mean to step on toes.

He promised to release latest tax returns after elections.

He didn't do it

Liar.... what's he hiding?

So unlike high powered business people to lie.   You could say the same thing about politicians, but that's not actually what Trump is.   That much has been demonstrated by now.

Tax write-offs are much more complex than anything described in this thread regarding large corporate business. Evidently, only Trump has all the answers to the tax laws. Who else can buy his wife a $3 million diamond ring, and pay no income taxes? frown

I don't care about his income taxes as long as he does a great job running this country.

He is doing a great job doing that......Trump is the best President we have had in the last 30 years!

Yes, egotistical....I can live with that!

Your President has done more for Canada than our own Prime Minister and your President isnt trying to help us. He only wants to help you,as it should be.

And it isn't even close to any other president we have had.  Trump is the best since Reagan and Reagan was great too! Unlike the stories you hear now and the media trying to change history.   I held my nose when I voted for Trump.   Now, I am very glad I did.  He has done more for the people of the USA.   He is creating jobs so people can get off government assistance!  Like I said, he is egotistical and a loud mouth.  I can with that.   Thanks President Trump for helping we the people out!  Before Trump, our country was going down the road of distruction!  Trump is a very smart man when it comes to running this country and he is a very smart business man!

There isn't a Presidential bone in Trump's body. He's making a mockery of the Presidency, and will set our country back globaly forty years. He has yet to live up to his promises, and he never will. He fooled the voter!  As for Reagan, history shows that middle class income became stagnant during is administration, and began going backwards in regards to the cost of living. Neither side of the aisle has done anything concrete to reverse that trend. Instead of proper raises in income for the working person, they issued credit cards "fake money" to keep the middle class happy. Think about it......if the middle class had to pay up front for all the frills in life with only the money they earn, how happy would the middle class be? Not very.....and the credit card debt in this country proves that point. To keep the middle class spending....they have kept raising the individual credit card limits. "Fake ecomomy"

HUH, tax relief and polititics. who would of thunk it. LOL. it's called a TAX SHELTER, Helio got busted and claimed he was stupid, which was a lie but the goverment said pay us what you owe and the fine and be on your way. Sure a lot of it is a advertising loss, but lets remember you can only write that loss for 7 years. There is many major corporations that have been sponsoring major league racing a lot longer than 7 yrs. STP, LOWE'S to name 2. Your local saturday night sponsor can right it off for 7 years as advertising. As for how corporations such as R. J. Reynolds did it for so long ? you got me ? But remember they also have tax attorneys that probably have direct lines to the IRS.

Advertising and sponsorships aren't considered losses. They are legitimate business expenses. I don't believe there is any designated term regulating advertising or sponsorships. The key for a business is whether or not the advertising  or sponsorship can reflect a return to the business. A business that isn't profitable will often times cut back in those areas, because other expenses are more vital to the operation. R.J. Reynolds was profitable and evidently considered the NASCAR involvement a viable investment. The cigarette advertising ban brought an end to that partnership.  When the dealership I retired from began the association with the NSL and Jackson Motorplex, we had new customers that were race fans come to the dealership and purchase vehicles solely because of the involvement the dealership had in racing. Soe from as much as 100 miles and more away. And those new customers came right out and told us that. Plus, they have become loyal repeat customers, and send friends and family in. So for the dealership, it has been a good investment. It was a win win situation. First of all, we were race fans, and the involvement has been enjoyable, and we've met a rce fans that we didn't know.

Neither.  He is doing a great job.  Much better than Obama he did nothing but double the debt from 10.6 trillion to over 20 trillion.  Obama was a yes man and made the middle class pay more than there fair share in taxes.  Nothing changed on my W-2's when he was in office and each year I would get less and less back on my taxes again with nothing changing!  I am not the only person that has happened to....I have talked to people in the same boat.  The Washington machine "the insiders" need to go and they need to go now.  Drain the swamp Trump....you are off to a good start with that!

There is a big click in Washington between the democrats and the rebublicans and we needed an outsider.  We got that and we will be the better for it in the long run!  He will take us into the far future with his thinking instead of what the last 30 years of presidents did and that was talking and not doing what is right for the American people!

I don't care if you are republican or democrat as long as you do your job and that is what Trump is doing.  He is a very smart man.  You guys are just too blind to see it.  You must have been watching too much MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, and NBC.  I don't watch any of them.  I form my own opinions with any help from the media.   He wasn't even a politician going into the election.  Looking back that is about the only thing I liked about him.

This is all I have to say on this subject.  You will see how this all works out in the end and it will be better for all involved in the long run.  Will there be hardships yes....will we get through them yes.

Hillary was a very poor candidate for this country and she should be in jail!

I'm sure the $2500 a year that Obama saved you with his socialist health care bill offset the money you were losing on income taxes, right????

Canadian 2 cents here. Worth less in the USA mind you. Health care done right is awesome. You may not like your taxes paying for medical care of some street guy on drugs but you sure will if you need major care for the long term.. In Canada any person can take my child into a hospital and i know they get top notch care from the beginning and i dont have to worry about the doctor or the bill or the decision of the adult who took them in. You may be of a financial situation where you think you can afford what you need but that can change real quick.

Funny. In business for 35 yrs. Proud to say, started with a 40,000 investment and it grew to a 7 figure company year in/out. That Democratic presidency cost us in his 8 yrs. A tax liability that went from writing a 5 figure check at years end to after his 8 yrs in office a gain to 6 figures by years end. MY CPA, which has 30+ yrs exp. LOST more small business entrepreneurs in those 8 yrs than in his 30+yrs. Get your heads out of the sand. BLAZER, thanks for that insight.

Fellas... you are discussing politics. This is absolutely pointless. You will not change my mind, just like I won't change yours no matter how much we try.

This is a dirt track forum, so without knowing anything about any of you I'm 86% sure I know where your allegiances lie before we even talk. Thankfully I go to the track to watch the races and not to to engage in thought provoking political discourse. I've heard some politics being discussed in some places and let me tell ya..... it wasn't very enlightening.

Anyway, have a Merry Christmas everyone. I'm gonna bust into my bottle of Dalmore 18 and I am goddamn sure I'll have a jolly ol' time.  As-salamu Alaykum.

And hakuna matata to you to Mr. Utah!    I gotta agree with Mr. Utah on this, we need to discuss sprint car racing.   You can go into the voting booths and pull the lever for whoever you want, but when it comes to sprint cars we should all be united.   He is also correct that we won't change each other's minds.   45% of this country is conservative and 45% ain't.   Those numbers aren't gonna change from political debates on any forum.
