Where did you read about Balog's plans?
|
He stated those exact words I quoted today in reply to a comment someone posted on the pics of his new car earlier on Facebook. Btw, the car looks awesome.

Haha...didn't he get banned a couple years ago or something? I can't remember the exact circumstances.
Glad to hear Nimee isn't running MOWA.
|
He got sat down for a race (or 3?) and was highly displeased, and let it be known he was done racing for a while. I'm glad he's coming back, although I can understand why some people were upset with him. He was on a streak of being really fast, and really aggressive and IMO made some moves here & there that probably overstepped the line. The IRA is comprised of mostly shoe string budget working guys. 1 or 2 bad wrecks and their season is kaput.

That is a perfect way of explaining it. He was definately fast... but really wreck allot of peoples equipment. The IRA is definately the working mans 410 series, and it is pretty awesome they average between 26-32 cars per show. That is something really lucky fans in the Wisconsin/Illinois area have. To your point however, yes I believe all the IRA guys are on a pretty tight/realistic budget, and if Kertscher starts running over people again, it will be bad for the series as a whole. As far as points, assuming all these guys are back, here is my prections for top 5.
1. Rose (consistant and experianced)
2. Nimee (fast and stays out of trouble)
3. Schmidt (great equipment)
4. Marten (can be fast and now has a year under his belt)
5. Schultz (needs to stay out of trouble and settle down)

thanks for posting, this kind of feedback is exactly what I was seeking. my gut tells me Ben Schmidt will be the top guy left at the end of the year, but I wouldn't be surprised at any of the above (besides Marten, hasn't shown me enough yet). Nimee is a personal favorite, as is Mike Reinke. I don't believe he's planning on running exclusively for IRA points, but is scheduled to race quite a bit in Iowa. It's an exciting year ahead for us IRA fans. opener at LaSalle looks like it will be warm enough, but there is some chance of rain on thursday and friday. If it happens, I will be there. Never hit LaSalle yet.

Any Hosers coming to LaSalle, stop by and say hello. White pickup with pop up camper, flying an American and checkered flag.

I'm glad Kertcher is coming back. He'll dominate the local IRA races even in sub par equipment. Maybe I'll go to more than 1 race this season other than the 3 WoO shows.

Sub par equipment?!?! Haha! Thank you Strange Wings for always proving you have no idea what you're talking about. The CAB Construction car is one of the better operations in the IRA. You're always a safe bet for a good laugh. Thank you!

Here's some confirmation re: Balog's plans. Looks like true "outlaw" schedule as some else noted. Also introduces a new sponsor: Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer for which it says Bill will donate 5% of the team's winnings and 10% of merchandise sales. Kudos for that.

Well the car definitely hasn't been fast or competitive. Even if Its an average ride, Kertcher will kick major ass in the local races. Sorry I'm not an expert. Lol

I miss the days of Goeden, Roe, Whitney, Hensley... and even Dollansky for the short time he was there! Was an awesome series in the late 90's/early 2000's. Remember our first race Jeff?

Hoping to be parked right next to you Maddog and Larryitis. See how this week shakes out. Gotta dig the camper from storage on Friday too if I plan on going.

Looking forward to it. Hope it's not a jinx, but the weather report gets better every day.... Larryitis is coming, just not sure if he is coming with me.

Could be a good show. We were thinking of going. Is it a decent trip? How far from Milwaukee?

I have not been to Lasalle Speedway but have been through Lasalle a number of times. It is the most God awful boring trip from Rockford to Lasalle. That being said, it's good road and you can probably take a nap for 75 miles because it is pretty much straight and flat so no driving needed! :)
All interstate from Milwaukee--2 hours and 20 minutes or so?

Maybe I could have a truck breakdown while in Ottawa. I really like Lasalle & it reminds me a whole lot of Limaland. I don't think you guys will be disappointed at all.

Easy trip from Beertown. Mapquest shows about 2 hours 31 minutes from Miller Park. My trip is about 2 hours and 2 minutes.

Alright. Thanks. We'll probably go then. Maybe we can talk like adults!
