For the longest time I was derided by he usual suspects for measuring Eldora with wheel to find the "distance" of the the mean groove was roughly 4/10s of a mile...until some fella who was familiar with google earth came along and produced the SAME distances I measure for e low ang high grooves that cars actually ran at that years kings Royal.

and to this day the WoO still claims it as a half mile...and reports inflated speeds to back up their claim...when I know damn well we would have had to be out in the grass the whole way around the track to get that distance.

soo poo poo google earth all you want...until Tony blows out the concrete wall and widens the track to FIND AN EXTRA 350-400 feet, Eldora is now and always will be .43 miles AS STATED IN MY SIGNATURE BELOW.

the speeds show in the siganture were measure with a radar gun at the entry of the turn named...T3 = turn 3 entry for those of you sleeping under the turnip truck.

We are all very proud of you and your measurements. Do you want a cookie?

If you have a good reason why a FOOT or a MILE is a different length at any given track when the WoO visits there than any other day of the year knock yourself out.

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Super Chuck is STILL trying to figure out what SPEED has to do with good racing? Most often it is the exact opposite which creates a good show. Give Super Chuck a multi-groove, slick race surface. Meanwhile you boys can keep arguing about the size of your.....tracks.

All I ever hear is how the tracks need to be slick and slow to make the racing better.  I agree that a slicker track, as long as it doesn't take rubber, is the better racing surface.  Yet, if TT laps aren't in the low 16s at Williams Grove, it's bitched about on this very board, this very post, as a slow half mile that isn't nearly as hard to race on as Volusia, Eldora, Knoxville, etc.  I for one don't mind the fact that you can't just stay floored for 100% of the lap on the cushion no matter how fast the track is.  If it wasn't in PA, it would be a good thing, I'm sure.  As for lap speeds, anyone that's been to Selinsgrove, Port Royal, and Eldora finds it laughable that Eldora laps speeds are averaging "20mph faster".  That's all.  Nobody here is saying one track is better than another, just that some aren't accurate with their distance, which is true.  What's the big deal?

Yep, Super Chuck is with you on that.  Not sure why the emphasis on speed or reason to inflate the stats.  But it's like they say, 90% of statistics are false and the other 15% are accurate.

He's been to Volusia, Eldora, Knoxville, The Grove, Port Royal, Belleville and in Super Chuck's opinion speed is relative.  Seen some snoozers are Eldora, but seen some great races on America's Slowest Half Mile.  Laps speeds at Kokomo, Eagle, I-30 and Deer Creek pale in comparison to the bigguns, but in Super Chuck's eyes it's the racing that isn't comparable.

I guess World Racing Group is hoping to get a cut of the sales of the synthetic material used on the surface at Rolling Wheels.
