I liked what Madsen said after chasing him for 50 laps, (not exact quote), 'race after race, all he does is compliment his team, never taking credit for anything, but what's amazing is his driving ability, he's just an amazing driver, believe me I watched it for 50 laps'.

Thats really cool. You could see Madsen giving it absolutely everything he and his car had and Schatz even made a wicked cusion look smooth and easy!

The only way to stop Donny at Schatzville is to start him in davenport, used to be osky, but i think davenport would give ebery one else a fight chance. and i think he still would win. all joking aside, enjoy the moment we are watching history 2nd only to the big 3 steve, doug and sammy. can you imagine if the 4 of these guys racing together in their prime. yes i am a donny fan and proud of it, he is this generations steve. so sit back watch history and wait for the next young gun to come along and kick his butt. other wise don't forget to stop and smell the rose's

The racing was good for other positions, behind 1st....
I enjoyed The Cushion OK, but unfortunately you get to watch whatever duels they choose to focus on, if I had been there I would have enjoyed watching Hodnett's charge....

Like The Who said in Pinball Wizard: "How do you think he does it? What makes him so good?"

All the cars are very similar, but Schatz isn't just a bit better, he's head & shoulders above the crowd....

"smooth and easy." That's the key right there. I'm not a Schatz fan. I really thought and hoped we'd see a different winner this year. Sitting there watching the race, it was so apparent what the difference was. Lap after lap Schatz looked like he was cruising. He didn't appear to be fighting the car AT ALL. He was "smooth and easy" every lap. Watching the other drivers, none of them looked smooth lap after lap. The others were jumping the cushion, making bobbles on the cushion, or catching the inside berm with their left front and fighting to get it back under control. I never was a Wolfgang fan, either, but I always give credit where credit is due. I've said many times on here that I thought Wolfgang was the smoothest driver I ever saw. Add Schatz to that list. I'm sure it's a combination of Schatz the driver and Warner and crew's setup, but it works.
Donnie Schatz, I'm tired of watching you win the Nationals, but congratulations to you and your crew on another impressive Nationals title.

I like Schatz, but I am a bigger Madsen fan. Watching Saturday night was painful for me. Madsen was driving the wheels off his car, trying so hard to catch Schatz (to the point he was overdriving and pushing at times). And the entire time I knew there was no way he would win other than mechanical failure on the 15. Schatz is just smooth. There's no way around it, he and that team have Knoxville down to a science.
Congrats to Schatz. It is truly impressive to witness. I do like him, but boy am I ready for one of my other favorite drivers to win.
