I posted some video clips and pics from '06 on my site that show some of the wild racing action that the STN is known for.
If you'd like to check some of them out, just go to www.DarinShort.com then click on the 'racing highlights' link, then scroll down to the STN link.
And I'm going to kick off the '07 predictions by saying there will be 118 entries this year.
And I'll leave with this thought:
How P.O.'d are you going to be, if you find out that one of the many 'invader' teams planning to show up on their 'off weekend,' take the COMP Cams Challenge, start 21st, and 40 laps later leave Little Rock with over $45,000 - and you weren't there to witness it!?
:)
Have a great racing weekend wherever you are, the weather is perfect for Knoxville tonight if you're in the area for their season championships.

PS: and there is a professionally produced video clip (and videos for purchase) you can check out at http://www.highvistavideo.com/Video%20clip%20page.htm .
Just scroll down to the bottom of the page to get a taste of the action.
Also, last year Hot Rod was there with www.AmericanDirtNetwork.com offering internet fans with the live racing commentary. Hopefully they will be back again this year.

High entry fees? The entry fee has not changed for several years.
Preliminary night pays only $100? CarWashMike knows that is not the truth - I have been telling him for years but he refuses to accept the truth.
Only 80 cars? How many sprint shows would love to have 80 cars? The Short Track Nationals is the biggest 360 Sprinter Show in the World - "only" 80 cars speaks volumes to the quality of sprint car racing that will take place at I-30 Speedway.
Where is the gripe and whine about the grandstand ticket prices? BECAUSE YOU CAN ATTEND ALL THREE NIGHTS FOR A MERE $45.00. Where else can you watch 90 - 110 sprinters race each other for 3 straight nights for $15 per night?
Some of you folks have been poking this event for years. All to no avail - it keeps getting bigger and better. I suggest you try it sometime.
Peace,
Brad

The best 360 race? The Trophy Cup. There isn't a 360 race that will draw driver's and car owner's like this one. Fast guys in back.

best 360 race? Try Knoxville 360 Nationals bud. Close to the same talent in the field, but more cars at Knoxville and they go a hell of a lot faster. Not to mention that when it comes tot he facility.......there is no comparison between Knoxville and I-30.
But I wasn't even tryin to bash on STN. I still want to go an awful lot. Just think the show maybe could be made better with more money on the bottom half of the purse and on prelim nights. Up front it appears as a race that is tailor-made for guys like Gary Wright and Jason Johnson. But then again, maybe not. It is a sprint bandit format. So no matter who is in the A Main........they had to bust ass to get there. The hell with all this arguin about it. I would like to see it a lot. JMO.
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a

I am sure every region has an excellent 360 race. Heck IMO the Canadian Nationals at Ohsweken in 2 weeks is the best show in the midwest/North East. Get all the top SOD, NRA, Patriots, ESS, and SOS drivers plus a few invaders. And the pre-entry is on $40 and with the pre-entry you get a free pit pass plus you can buy 5 additional pit passes at a $10 discount. Even if a team walks up it is only $85. Pays 7k to win and $600 to start and every competitor that takes a green flag on Saturday gets a minimum of $100.

If I didn't live 14 hours away, I'd go.
I'd drive the 14 hrs anyway if the prelims paid the actual ASCS National prelim purse, but they do not.
Staggerman has a good point, why is it not under ASCS rules as far as entry fee and prelim pay? Valid question, whether you want to say it is negative or not.
I know Staggerman, and this post is not out of negativity, but rather frustration. Frustration because the $$ is there to make it more practical to travel, but with the current format, it makes no sense.
We'd love to go, but with the high # of cars in the area that attend, and the ringers that show with a ride, they will never change the format.
Frustrating because if the $$ was distributed differently, an 80 car show could turn into 150 if they did the purse more logically, making it the biggest sprint car race anywhere, and worth the travel even if you didn't make the A.
How many cars do you think Knoxville Nationals would draw if they took all of the prelim pay and just made the 24 car A purse bigger? It would drop like a rock, big show or not.
STN is a great show, I wish it made more sense for us to go. Frustrating.
