The track will be fine for Saturday night.  Watched plenty of Saturday afternoon shows with little to no impact on the night show.  Afternoon show will suck but they are doing all they can do with the weather.  Can't wait to get there tomorrow morning!

Looking at track not sure they could run two shows tonight.  My guess is they won't be racing until 9.  Mudfest.

I like the idea of start Tuesday.  If all goes well take Friday off and party.  If not you have the make up date.

agreed. it's not a terrible idea. people can adjust.

I have never been to a day time Winged Sprint Car race.  So my question is how could this hurt the Knoxville Nationals?

It won't really. The Saturday afternoon show(Friday portion) probably won't be the best being run on a daytime surface but they will have plenty of time to rework the track before the big show Saturday night. They had to do this a couple years ago and it worked out OK.

Maybe knoxville should consider starting on tuesday then in case of a rain out they got a extra day in case they need it. Sounds sort of radical but this sucks for everybody. That friday night race with the new format is the best thing they ever did for friday nights....sucks for the teams and fans

Not a bad idea, but it would force a lot of people to use an extra vacation day. If there are no rainouts, then what? A day off or add another event? I agree about the new Friday format, much better than the old.

Sounds like the World Challenge will still happen on Sat morning.....too bad they aren't still giving the winner a spot in Sat night's A main.

With the delay to Thurs show due to weather,  it is best that they are not going to try to play two tonight.   The glare of the rising sun would startle many.

Bad   idea  , I  was   there   when they   ran  a  daytime  show  and it  was  horrible  , once  again   fans   not  considered  , but  what is good  for  track  is  good for fans  , thats  how most  tracks  do it  . But then they don't want to  run on  Sunday
if   they  get  rained  out again .  As most  fans  may have  reurn to  there  homes  on Sunday .

Definitely see you next year!  Need to get Maddog there too!

As far as the Tuesday start goes that someone suggested--hell of an idea!  If the forecast looks clear through Saturday, they can run the normal Wed. thru Saturday.  If the forecast has some question marks, start running the shows a day early.  Most people have the tech. to get constant updates as to what the track is going to do.  I would only like to see Saturday's show on Saturday though unless the weather looks just terrible for Saturday and Sunday, then it would give them an option anyways.  All drivers are there anyways.  90% of the fans that come to Wed. and Thursday would be able to be there for a Tuesday show or already there anyways.

That is an idea that they should at least entertain at an off season board meeting.  Or, at least have it as an option should weather look threatening.

Believe it or not some people have this thing called work that interferes with spending another day at Knoxville.

If you have an open night it will only take 1 yr of no rain and people will be complaining that they need to have races on the open night.   Then you'd be right back to where you are now.    Also what night are you gonna keep open, Fri?   What if it doesn't rain all week but ends up raining Sat night?   Or are you gonna just start on Tues and race the first 4 nights that weather is fit?

It sucks when it rains but I don't think planing on rain is a good idea either.

My opinion is that while the Fri format needed a change they shook it up more than necessary and discounted the qualifying nights in the process.

IMO, they should have kept Fri for the bottom 50 qualifiers but it should have used the same format (TT, inverted heats, features) as Wed/Thurs and used the same payout as Wed/Thurs.        There is plenty of quality cars in the bottom 50 every year to put on a good show if you use a good format.   + adding money to the bottom half of the field would help draw more cars.
