Vande--How do you know people will/did pay that amount? Just because that's the price tag doesn't mean it is going to sell. You are always talking business/economics/etc, but this is the first "special" Huset's has offered PPV and they were WAY off. I highly doubt they sold more than a handful. I often purchase the Cushion & Dirtvision, but this was too high. Like I mentioned, just because the item/service has a price DOES NOT mean it is going to sell.

I don't know that they will, I don't work for the Cushion. But they've in business for multiple years, I'm sure THEY know what they can and can't sell based on price and how many subscribers they generally get.
Now, someone stated that GA tickets were $25 (so to me, the PPV should have been $25). However, what if Huset's wanted $12.50 for the PPV and Guy Webb wanted $12>50 for teh PPV from every subscriber? That means the Cushion would have been losing $$$. Ever thought that maybe they charged what they did so they could make $$$??
It's their business and business model, not ours. If you think it's worth the $$$, buy it. If you don't you don't have to buy it. It's really that simple.
As far as what the WWE and UFC are doing, my take is that their $9.99 per mo subscriber fee will only last about 1-2 years and it will go up (they get people hooked and then raise the price), especially if their PPV buy #'s start going down. Also remember that they get 5 million people to watch on TV every week (multiple times per week). Sprint car racing maxed out at 1 million in the 1990's when it was on the same channel. Big difference in # of viewers there.

The only possible equivalent to what the WWE Network is doing right would be for The Cushion to include all live events in the monthly $9.99 subscription.
I noticed they were a bit dry in advertising the other night - there has to be someone who would buy some adspace. I wasn't paying attention to much in between the races but it seemed that all they usually had was Kyle Luetters reading off the track's advertising during breaks.
