Make not mistake about it. The April 12, 2014 World of Outlaws - USAC/CRA show at Perris Auto Speedway was announced last year and was clearly listed when the schedule was released last November 21st. Long before the KWS date at Tulare.
|
Scott, the issue isnt that KWS scheduled is season opener the same night as the WoO race at the PAS, its that your region has 0 winged sprint car representation. If you have to rely on Nor Cal winged cars to give you a full field, you are destined for failure. Last year, you had 3 teams from up north make it to the PAS. The writing is clearly on the wall, Nor Cal teams will not travel to the PAS for a single night race. Its been that way for a very long time; Nor Cal is winged racing, although non wing racing has grown tremendously, and So Cal is exclusively non winged racing. I wouldnt hint that the lack of winged cars there last night was caused by the KWS show at Tulare. The PAS is probably never going to support a full winged show, unless some of the non wingers put a wing on and help out, which they too have shown they will not due over the past few yrs.

I've been to the Perris WoO show the past 3 years and the show last night was not the fault of WoO or Don Kazarian, look no further than KWS and ask why they would schedule a race on top of this one. I'm not going to say there would have been a stellar car count, Perris struggled to get a full field last year as well with only 21 cars and in 2012 there were 26 or 27 cars and they did run a b-main. Last year there were 7 non-outlaws at Perris (Brian Brown, Jason Meyers, Tim Kaeding, Jonathan Allard, Kyle Hirst, Austen Wheatley and Greg Wilson) and out of those cars only 4 run primarily NorCal and only 2 ran for KWS points. No matter how you slice it up, a WoO show at a track that doesn't have a strong local contingent of winged 410 cars is going to struggle with car counts. I have a feeling the long awaited return to Devil's Bowl is going to have a similar problem...that is ASCS 360 country.
By the way, the CRA feature last night was a lot better show than watching WoO regulars follow-the-leader around a rubber down high groove. Yeah, the restarts were exciting watching Daryn and Joey dice it up for 1 corner, but then they'd string out and it was a yawner after that.
|
so you are blaming this on two kws cars that made the trip last year but not this year. get over your self. you mentioned four cali cars that ran last year. well one of them was there this year (TK) and one doesn't race regularly anywhere (meyers)
the other two chose to run their home series.
if you think that two more cars would have saved the woo show, then so be it.
i didn't hear one complaint from teams about having to miss the woo event.
for whatever reason, there has not been a history lately of nor cal 410 cars going to the perris event lately anyway.
to indy and beyond!!

You obviously missed the point I addressed. The first line in this thread stated disapointment that Perris Auto Speedway scheduled a race against the KWS race at Tulare. It was the exact opposite. The KWS scheduled against the WoO, USAC race at Perris Auto Speedway long after the Perris date was released. That is the ONLY issue I responded to. Just setting the record straight. Nothing more and nothing less.

If no KWS race last night you would have only gotten, at the most, three more cars!
Williams Motorsports #0
Tarlton (with Meyers) #21
#83 (Tiner) with driver TBA!
Still not enough cars for a show and as I stated in a previous post you will NOT get NOR CAL cars to haul to Perris for a one night show.
You can't blame a KWS show for a dismal car count at Perris!

Then your point is - well - pointless then. Anyone can see that KWS scheduled their opener against the WoO show at Perris. They probably did it knowing it would have little impact on the event. Just about anyone with a brain probably had the same thought when they saw it. I will make a point that is worth making and something someone as intelligent as you should understand: With all the knowledge you guys have about your fan base and racers there is no need to book a WoO race at the Perris Auto Speedway. Period. End of story. Bitching about the KWS scheduling a race at Tulare is just dumb and pointless.

If as you say, " Anyone can see that KWS scheduled their opener against the WoO show at Perris," the first person in this thread would not have opened with his disapointment of Perris scheduling over KWS. A customer's perception of a fact was incorrect and it cast a bad light on The PAS for something it did NOT do. Once again, all I did was address that and set the record straight. That is it! I did NOT bitch about KWS scheduling or anything else to do with the KWS. I just straightened out a misinterpreted fact. What is wrong with that?
As far as you saying there no need for Perris to book a WoO race, they always draw a big crowd. We had a packed house last night. One of the largest crowds in the 19 season history of the track. We also hope the KWS race at Tulare last night was a success for the series and the track and we look forward to watching it on MAVTV.

Ty PAS had a good time. As exciting as the Usac 410s were I hope we get alot of them new fans back. WoO was ok in the main. But there is nothing like seeing a non wing gassing it up around that track. Geez they Haul Ass.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

This is a 100% ignorant statement to make. See most post earlier to Scott about why scheduling a WoO race at the PAS is a crap shoot at best in a region that has not 1 winged 410 sprint car team. Relying on the north to fill the field is nieve at best, epspecailly, when it has been proven Nor Cal teams will not travel, but for 2-3 teams, to the PAS for a WoO event. Scheduling them with the CRA team is a genius idea to ensure a pretty full house, as they had. I dount anyone significant crowd ever shows up at the PAS just to see the WoO's again by themselves.

That is correct. If they had one of their best crowds in history as Scott mentioned it was because of 2 things:
1. The "Fairwell Steve Tour".
2. The inclusion of the non-wing cars.
Barring these two things I have no idea why someone would pay $50 to get in the joint even if there were a few more cars.

Bill Rose is an "Outlaw" broken arm but still driven his rig and wrenchen for Gravel, and took time to visit with us in Merced last year, half the outlaws could be on SSI. they need to put thier marketing skills to work and field a young unknow kid. There is a big mountain range between So Cal and Nor Cal and it is seldom crossed by either group. Even Bakersfield does not run any wing shows why no fans. Parris has no winged fan base, its not a great winged track, No nor cal team has a so Cal sponser (remember from fresno )middle of cal( to Parris in a hauler is 7-8 drive and most of the winged 410 teams in Cal can add 3-5 hours to that (lots of fun going but all day Sun coming home). I do not see the Pas on the schedule unless they go to KWS and make a great offer run Ventura Fri and Parris Sat or Santa Maria Fri and Parris Sat. Such a great market down there

Why would the WoO ditch a paying gig based on car counts? If the sanction fee and purse are paid, they will be there...
